I followed Dons thread on what to get and how to attach. Its out of an 85? Iroc z... easy to find on Craigs list, paid $25 and I had it powder coated gold. Now I have both front and rear in powder coated gold...LOL
I was told that unless you have the front sway bar you cannot use the rear? So, I just waited to find a 1st gen, then got them powder coated.

Yes, on that sight I am Ledzeppvan. Most of the people think I am a guy? So, I was the new guy.
I think now that I have put pictures on each I will be recognized. LOL I just did not want to make a big deal about my gender.

Re: GMC Jacke's van
I was not able to attend the Vans at the Bay today... I was sick at home. I had a request from a local vanner Rino, to post the installation of my 2005 Audi front seats. I got from Pic a part $98.
The seat track was cut off in order to fit in the limited area. The seats do not move they are stationary.Cut off the plastic on each seat placed inward so you don't notice to much.
I had a friend who had a welder make the brackets from steel I bought at Home depot. With basic measurements for front & back he cut and welded 8- L brackets. But any welder can do a simple L bracket. To see the entire pictures thread check page 8. I started with thin metal... everyone told me NO that would not hold. So I had the steel welded. I do wish the seats moved, I would do it differently but the seat are pretty tall with sliders they would touch the ceiling.

Re: GMC Jacke's van
I graduated in 76' It is still my favorite band! I would have used that name here... but I filled out the form wrong and could not change the name or I would loose my posts. I got the idea from seeing Steelyvan on this site! Then I realized what I wanted to be my moniker! LedZeppVanvanny wrote:Led Zeppelin was voted class’ favorite band at my high school back in 77!

Re: GMC Jacke's van
Looks Great! Glad to hear it's driving better for you. You folks get to drive your vans year round...I've always dreamt of being able to do that but we're getting our first snow here tonight...and I still need to get some leaves picked up...hopefully we get a thaw at some point so I can get them removed or else the lawn is going to have a blanket of leaves all winter.
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...

Re: GMC Jacke's van
So, this antenna was the very first big ticket item I purchased almost 4 years ago for the van.
I have never had the time to have it installed... but I think the projects on the van are dwindling down to an amount where I will have the time... but to drill into the body of the van will be very very difficult to even start! I am going to place the antenna on the passenger side as it originally was placed in 1964. I prefer the antenna on that side too.
Anyone have any comments or suggestions before I drill it out!!!

Re: GMC Jacke's van
Lay down some blue painters tape and mark the holes to be drilled with a pen, then take a deep breath and drill. It took me two years to make the decision to drill into mine.

Re: GMC Jacke's van
I think I am over the cutting fear.I do like the original look of the antenna.
But, I have some other things needed if I add an antenna. I have no radio or speakers... but I saw some retro ones that seem nice.
LOL, so I guess I will just wait until I have everything that goes with an antenna.
My dash has nothing cut into it. So I would have to do a bit of cutting out the dash etc.
Not in any rush!
