I like that updated fuse box. I'd like to tackle that in mine one day.
What's that long skinny compartment for alongside the dog house?

Re: GMC Jacke's van
its sure been chopped up,,,,,,,,so we will see what other,,,,,uh,,,,,modifications show up,,,,she needs to take that radiator out,,,,,,get some straps soldered to it so it can be bolted to the doghouse,,,,,,basically the hoses are holding it in,,,,,,I dont know that the van sending units match those Dolphin Dash gauges,,,,that turn signal switch can be operated with your knee,,,,,lucky she is a tiny person so she dont turn on the right turn signal, every time that she steps on the clutch,,,,,front door stops are missing,,,,,,aint no heater core in it,,,,,,,she wants panel doors for the back,,,,,,,that steering wheel has no horn contacts in it,,,,,the collar bearing is loose,,,,,gas gauge dont work,,,,,I think her bumpers are being rechromed now in Mexico,,,,,there is all kinds of different emblems on it,,,,,,cant say for sure yet,,,,,,what that van really is,,,,,,,,but she likes GMC's,,,,,,,,so,,,,,it will probably be raised as a HandiVan,,,,,,,

Jacke's GMC
My GMC , I am going to put panels and redo the inside. The front high backs are just the first of some improvements coming... I will post pics as the project proceeds! Thanks to Don for his help.

Re: GMC Jacke's van
Jacke, what is the width of those seats? They look really nice! Just wondering if there will be any clearance issues with the doghouse.

that is a MESS,,,,,,a 1st Gen has a narrow doghouse for the 4 and 6 cylinder engines that came in them,,,,,IF,,,,,you put a V8 in there, the exhaust manifolds stick out under the seats,,,a 2nd Gen doghouse is wider,,,goes under the seats,,,,,,so someone cut the sides out of the doghouse for the manifolds,,and oil and trans dipsticks,,,,,they tried to make covers over the manifolds,,,right now,,,,you can see how the manifolds glow going down the road,,,,,and hear,,,,and smell the engine,,,,,,VERY Unpleasant,,,,,,so she needs a REAL 2nd Gen Doghouse if she plans on keeping that V8 in there,,,,,,

Hi Jacke! Welcome to the club! You've come to the right place.
That is a very eye-catching van you've got. Looking forward to seeing it in person. I've never seen a GMC Sportvan before!

That avatar belongs in the "eye popping thread". It should have a van in it though!

Welcome to VV Jacke. It's great that you have Donivan there to help get your van problems sorted out. He is the Guru of these old vans, and he will definitely have you back on the road in no time at all.

Re: GMC Jacke's van
Look like a some fun projects ahead...I bet they put that aftermarket turn switch in because the original was broke or they didn't have the know how to make the after market wheel hub work the cam. If you take that wheel off, you can probably figure out what's missing and restore the original switch even using the adapter hub set up. Hopefully they didn't trash the wiring and connectors too bad but even those can be restored by some one with Doni's knowledge! You are probably right on the sender, the original is probably in the tank or not working but won't work with the newer gauges, another solvable problem!

I like that padded doghouse cover. That oughta insulate against the heat. Hmm, but will it fit on a 2nd Gen doghouse...?
