Re: GMC Jacke's van
Thanks to all of you for the encouragement.
I got the engine onto the frame and the accelerator cable connected to the carburetor so far. I used my lift to bring up the engine, then I slipped it under the frame and Wela-engine in place... I ordered the seat from Thailand along with a chain guard. I won't get them for about 3 weeks I think? May 21st may be the date I can expect delivery. I will snap some pictures... If I buy a universal on/off or key switch with the same number of wires to use? That will work to turn off the engine I believe. Because otherwise I would need to pull the plug wire to turn it off... but you tell me? I absolutely am flying by my little butt. Any guidance from experience does help beginner's.
The questions are likely very simple... so give me the simple answer. Thanks!

Re: GMC Jacke's van
Jacke, Here is a wiring diagram I found. It looks like your switch not only shuts off the engine but turns on your head and tail light and controls your charging system. I'm sure there are generic switches out there that will do that but don't have one that I'd recommend. Here is the website I got it from. It's free but you have to join, confirm then download. I think they may have service manuals too if you don't already have one.

Here's one on eBay who happens to have 10% off today and tomorrow.

Thanks so much. I saw that one, but because I know so little I was unsure if it would work! I will give it a try for $20... I do have the wires just need to get correct ends to plug into the starter. That seems doable. Soon I will have that darn cub running and have lights!

Re: GMC Jacke's van
Looks good Jacke, are you going to match the paint to Goldie or keep it original?

Re: GMC Jacke's van
I am going to keep it original paint. It's a survivor that is missing parts, so I have some goody's to add like front bumper and mud flap. That new engine needs to be protected from the dirt. I also bought a chain cover and a seat. I will wait to buy new tires until I get it running and actually drivable. I also need a rectifier and a battery to charge the system so I can use the light. I bought the key switch listed above
thanks to help from JR., I am happy to get the direction, as a beginner I need it. This weekend I should have my parts partially anyway. The new seat is coming from Thailand... Maybe by 21st.

Re: GMC Jacke's van
The brakes are installed! Here are pictures, I am very happy. Power Assist Disc Brakes
and the E brake also has be correctly routed/mounted with new wheels, so it will pull smoothly and hold finally. I would tell you all about the install but I am no mechanic.
I know that the routing of the E brake was difficult, and the brackets were worked so that the cable is not rubbing or binding as it had been. The Vacuum booster has a custom bracket so it can be serviced and removed if needed. I understand that the placement under passenger side foot well is where the OEM would have been placed. Mark is doing a fabulous job at making my ride both updated and safe for years to come. M1D disc brakes are the best!

Thanks Paul! It has been a struggle waiting for the van to come out of the Spa. Next is the power steering upgrade. Wow it's going to turn and stop!? What next? LOL

Re: GMC Jacke's van
I got the gas tank cleaned and back on the bike with new fuel lines. Next I need to get the clutch cable connected.
I am not sure but I believe I need a special tool to compress the clutch spring while screwing the cable in and connecting it?
I got the ignition switch. I have to adapt the cut wires on my side or cut the new ignition connector off. The 4 wire plug end and bare wires don't work to well so either I will find a plug and connect the wires or just do bullet connections. Time will tell... now I painted the side case's and the front fender. I will put that on today, the rattle can paint matches pretty good. Just painting the front fender and the side cases. Which I bought and were bright white.
