So, I find that the wiper button? is not able to stay on without being held down? Great concept previous owner developed... I had to hold it down to make the wipers work, while driving a 3-speed? Hmmm
So my next project is to change out the button for a switch on my wipers. The dash change moved the wiper down by the Heater switch. Which is better than butchering the dash.
Should not be too hard for me to do. I can do basic stuff... when needed. LOL
Thanks to Savage I have a correct wiper switch and knob that work properly. It went on as easy as pie, just have to add the bezel. Even for this beginner.

29-OMG... a little nippy.
Nice Wow, are all those vans YOURS?!
Question: What does the chrome 1/2 covers do for the lights, other than look cool?
I had bought a pair awhile back, but they seem too small even though they said they fit a 7" headlight?
One of my impulse buys that I still don't know what to do with yet. LOL

Not a problem at all. Your vans are really cool! I am sending back the extra wiper switch and knob today.
Thank you so much! If you need something, and I might have it (I doubt it), don't hesitate to ask...

But if this old lady is gonna drive the van into grey "hairdom" then it needs PS and Disc brakes! I am planning on a big trip to the 48th Van Nationals this summer!
My big trip before I grow to old to have fun! So, here we go on another magical mystery work tour! Then I am done... LOL RIGHT will that ever be the case?? Nope not likely!

I now am deciding what new rim's to get. My currant wheels in front are 14", 15" in rear. The Front off set has to be 3.75 for the Disc to clear. My old rims may not be right, too old... I have to measure. Most likely I will get new rims that work with the Disc correctly without grinding off of the calipers.
But, I am learning lots of important information as I sift through the sands of knowledge out there. And I have only just begun a few days ago.
Next will be the Power Steering upgrade... oh my. I will need to really sift! My brain is already feeling the pain of learning yet more about things I never knew.
So, I have found that my knowledge rolling down the edge of a razor blade, would look like a pea rolling down the freeway!

Re: GMC Jacke's van
Got the back doors pin striped to match.JackeFriend wrote:Well Rich (VanAgain) gave me all his time yesterday, we did stuff I never imagined I could do! We rebuilt door locks, and replaced my rear doors with my solid ones. We had some rebuilding of the door mechanisms! Wow, He did not give up even as the set in the West. It was great to start a big project and finish in the same day!
Since the old lock would no longer turn with the key, we transferred the 6 pins from the old door handle’s cylinder into the cylinder of new rechromed handle. We were careful to keep the pins in the same order and used the 6 springs that were in the best condition.
I have locks that actually lock now. Thanks again to Rich, a true friend indeed!
I will post the pictures… had some trouble attaching...

Re: GMC Jacke's van
Thanks! I finally had my paint guy fit me in to the shop. I had paid for the pin striping 2 years ago when he painted the van, and the extra set of back doors. But he would not pin strip until they were actually on the van.
I believe a person on this sight mentioned to me to get the second set on or the paint may not match... I keep my van under a tent, but he made sense and so I put the solid doors on a few months ago. Now they are done and pin striped.

Re: GMC Jacke's van
So after doing days of research on rims, back spacing, offset etc. etc. I decided to get the 15" front rims so I will have the correct backspacing 3.75 for the disc brakes. I will need to buy 2 new front tires... and a set of rims. I did not want the Torq Thrusters or those type. I wanted to stay with good old Slotted Mags! I just like that look. The tire size I have selected for the front are 215/60/15 I have 245/60/15 on the back. I may get wider rears after those wear out... but I cannot see spending on new back tires... as these have only 200 miles on them. Domino effect... one thing leads to another!
Woohoo!
Woohoo!

Re: GMC Jacke's van
I bought the BF Goodrich T/A Radials... so my tires will all match. Next time I want to buy the Michelin redline all around. But, I called got a price at Discount tire, called Evans who say they Beat Discount... they do not even try unless you have them mounted and balanced onsite. Hmmm false advertising!
So picked up the tires now. Then next month, I get those beautiful new rims... Pictures to come for sure!!

Well the van left yesterday without me for "repair city". I miss my van already, but cannot wait for the new improved version coming back.
But, I do miss my van.

Yes the waiting is the hardest part.
I am very happy really to get these important improvements accomplished as well as many small fixes that I need to be in good shape for years to come.
I am going to the 2020 48th Van Nationals and I will be excited to drive my van with Power steering and Disc brakes. What must that be like Oh Myyyy! Dreaming now of backing up the van from a parking spot without straining my neck and shoulders wrestling the wheel.
