Re: GMC Jacke's van
I think the Corvairs had a bolt on radio unit holder thingy that mounts to the bottom of the dash, that way you don't have to cut into it. I'm pretty sure I saw it in this forum somewhere...maybe someone will jump in and repost it or a link to the original for you. It was pretty cool because it maintained the original dash and it had the built-in look to it...

Re: GMC Jacke's van
So, BAD News... I had another damn heart attach! Geezzz, I threw a blood clot from having Afib!
I was not even aware I was having Afib. So that's two in five months. I am over this shit.
I have been doing everything as a good little heart patient... but got me again. I am a bit sad and upset... but still alive and kicking.

Re: GMC Jacke's van
Thanks gentlemen! You have brightened up my spirits with your very kind concern.
I am waiting for the local baby rain storm to blow threw... then next week I am back in my van having
some well deserved fun! I feel good and am sure I will be 100% by 2019. But even at 85% I am stronger than most my size! LOL
So next week I plan on having a friend change out some gauges with me. Needed to update the volt gauge and the temp gauge. So by then I should be ready for a cool cruise up around my neighborhood ending at the near by Lake. I call it the old lady loop...
I will take some photos of the new gauge install.
Then next I am gonna cut holes and put in that classic NOS antenna!!
My best to all of you great guys!!

Thank you so much. I am looking forward and not looking back!Seth G wrote:I'm glad you are feeling better Jacke and out enjoying your van and having a good time.
I really love my van and it makes me feel great when I drive it. Today while at the gas station, a nice guy came up and was so excited to see an old van. I enjoy the fun the van brings to myself and others.
Have a Merry Christmas

LOL, so I guess I will just wait until I have everything that goes with an antenna.
My dash has nothing cut into it. So I would have to do a bit of cutting out the dash etc.
Not in any rush!
Jacke,
Maybe if you enlarge it, it may help. Here is a new antenna install photo

Yes, I do have the same antenna and related materials... its just cutting into my van. Do you know if this antenna connection will plug into modern radios? I have heard the newer models have thicker plugs. Do you know if these are compatible? I have decided to install the antenna, if it can be hooked up correctly. I will need to mirror image the pattern as I am placing the antenna on the passenger side as it was in 1964 before they moved it to the driver side. I prefer the antenna be on that side. Thanks for thinking of me and my install!
Are you going to install your antenna?

No antenna for me - I just had that reference
Can you scan & share the install sheet for future reference (a good photo will do)
TIA
