    Transmission linkage Empty Transmission linkage

    Post by Rich1 Thu Dec 24, 2015 10:03 am

We have a 66 dodge A100. New 318 engine, rebuilt auto trans, disc brakes on the front, ect.
The problem that we are having is with the shifter connection at the transmission which is
external. Does anyone have photos or can take a photo of how it is hooked up????? Have spent hours trying to figure it out. Time to ask for help. Thankx

Try to get the shifter all set up before you break everything in. The selector lever at the transmission MUST be in the correct position when driving to avoid damaging the transmission due to the valve body being partly in 2 positions.

The throttle pressure (kickdown) linkage is very important on Torquefiltes! It will tear up the transmission if you drive it without it installed and adjusted properly. I am not a huge fan of Lokar, but this should show you enough to understand the reasons for this linkage.

I would suggest starting/breaking it in with the trans in Neutral. In Park, the front pump is not in play and the fluid level is off.

There are at least 2 different A100 throttle setups; cable and linkage. Make sure the parts are correct/matched.
There are 3 different shifters, but all should have the same 'throw' between Park and 1st.

I am looking at the reply from DIX with the pictures of the transmission linkage. I have not seen a cable transmission linkage for the A100 before. Both of my Dodge service manuals show pictures of mechanical linkage but no cable linkage. would appreciate knowing what service manual this picture appears in. My service manual is for 1967.

In question I asked about the mechanical trans linkage but meant the cable throttle linkage as pictured in the post. Was this cable set up on a Dodge van. Neither of my service manuals show that set up.

    I don't know about the van's. We just found out ours is a 1965 Dodge A100. It had a 6 cylinder &
we replaced it with a 318 V8. The pictures that were posted seem to match up with what we are
trying to accomplish. The transmission is a 727. We haven' got around to hooking it up as yet but
we will post it when we have succeeded. Wish us luck.
