Howdy Everyone, I wanted to introduce myself and to say what a great site VintAGE-Vans is,very friendly and helpful. I'm new to vans and I just picked up a 65 A100 that seems to be in decent shape, I think she'll clean up really nice. I'd like to use an auto-lift and I'm not familiar with unibodies so I'm not sure if I can because the undercarriage metal seems thin.
With all the experience on this site I'm sure someone has the answer. I'll try to post some pics. Thanks again for a great site.

    welcome to vintage vans,
as long as you are jacking it up from the frame you are fine,
just don't use the front straight axle..

Welcome to VV! Great looking base to start out with. When inserting your pics, if you change the default picture size from 800 pixels down to 640, the pictures won't get cut off.

Man, I just looked through these pics again and that looks to be a pretty original unmolested van! I guess I'm just jealous of you guys on the west coast. Nice trim package and looks to have very little rust as well. Congrats again, Joe A!!! cheers

Yes it's in pretty good shape, a little rust on the front floor boards but not bad and the prev. owner
changed the trans from 3spd to auto other than that it seems orig.

Mine has an after market extra side gas tank, which still has to have the inside cleaned. Has a rebuilt engine and trans (about 1000 miles on them), drives great. I am in the middle of restoring the interior. Front section is done now working on the rear section, my injured lower back is not liking all of the bending over that is needed to get the job done. I am still waiting to order a new gas tank.

I have owned a total of 3 Dodge A100 vans over the years and they all have that roof design. Hard to install a roof vent that does not leak over the years. I had an old vent on my roof but I traded it for a section of roof to plug it up, now I need to locate a body guy to install it cheaply. The owner before me did a terrible job installing the vent (it leaked real bad), he had used silicon glue to try and make it water proof. Didn't work!

I think the grooves on the roof, were intended to make it look stream line or to strenghten the roof metal.

How is your weather up north? Down here in Santa Barbara it is super humid (which is not normal), we are waiting for it to start raining. Pray for rain!!

My landscaping dried up 6 months ago, I'm waiting till after it rains before I replant. Here in Santa Barbara our city council is installing a desalination plant, it should be on line by the end of next summer. By then the lake where we store the rain water should be dry, so using sea water (with the salt removed) should help take care of our needs.
