Re: second gen wiper park adjustment
can you let them park where they like, then remove the arms and put them back on the windshield and see what they do?

Re: second gen wiper park adjustment
well, right now theyre parked kinda high because when i turn them on, they sweep lower and not far enough the other way...if i just lowered the arms where theyre at, they would come down and jump over the windsheild gasket and onto the paint...

Re: second gen wiper park adjustment
Could the mechanism be mounted upside down or backwards? Just thinking out loud ...

Re: second gen wiper park adjustment
Maybe someone else with a 2nd Gen Chevy or I bet Don probably has some pics of the mechanism that would help you to see what it "should" look like. Then you could try to make the necessary "adjustments"...

Re: second gen wiper park adjustment
I have two 2nd gen wiper motors and the length of that arm on both measures 3 1/16" with a tape measure( don't have one of the fancy calipers )

Re: second gen wiper park adjustment
big thanks to Mike Wideload, he sent me a link for free, what a guy! wipers are working as they should be, not sure how my van ended up with the wrong link on the motor as the motor seems correct. the extra offset probably had something to do with why the linkages were a bit tangled up when i got it as well...thanks again Mike!

Re: second gen wiper park adjustment
No problem Adam, glad I could help. Now we've all learned something. I had two of them and both were the same. Our vans are so old there's no telling how or when things got changed on them.

Re: second gen wiper park adjustment
I had the opposite problem. put a 2nd gen/2 speed wiper in my 1st gen shortly after buying the van. it would swing to far. after painting the van, I had to fix it and just drilled a new hole to shorten the throw, unfortunately, now its not enough. maybe I should look in my parts stash for the right one??? can you get me measurements on both versions center to center?

Re: second gen wiper park adjustment
the right one is installed in the van, i dont think i can get a good measurement. my wrong one is 1.920" center to center on the trusty harbor freight calipers..it also has the flats in the wrong orientation causing my wipers to dip low and park too high...not sure if mine came from 1st gen or something totally different...

Re: second gen wiper park adjustment
jrinaman the 2nd gen arm is (measured with my digital tape measure ) 2.25 center to center. Did you have to change any of the linkage when you installed the 2nd gen wiper motor? Was it a direct bolt in?

Re: second gen wiper park adjustment
didn't change any linkage but honestly cant remember which bracket I used or if it was clocked correctly. both motors were the same price and second gen has 2 speeds. you will need a different switch to send power to 'slow' or 'fast' and power to both is 'very fast'. had it set up on bench when I had it out to shorten the arm but still only single speed in the van until time allows and arm is corrected. too many projects, not enough time. stuff like this gets pushed back constantly for more pressing issues.
