Re: 1st Gen 8 door
11 years ago, I thought the 1st Gen, 64-66 Chevy/GMC vans only came in 2 flavors,,,,a panel with a choice of doors and windows, and the glorified station wagons, the SportVans, with the fancy seats and interior, little triangle windows, battery inside, slide out step under side doors and pop out windows,,,,HOWEVER, these vans with the SportVan body and panel VIN numbers showed up,,,,we call them SHEVYVANS,,,,,, looks like they were a trial run for the new SportVans,,,,,,,slots in grille and doghouse latches are ways of telling what you got,,,,,,also,,,,if you got a 65 with 5 slot grille,,,,you got something made out of leftover 64 parts, like mine is. They changed the brakes on the real 1965 vans.
A panel with all those windows, like mine has, is pretty rare,,,,,,I have driven the vans with the factory 4 speed on the column,,,,,,
I have not heard from Billy since then,,,,,,,

Re: 1st Gen 8 door
1st ones came with 4 cylinders,,,,,then you got the 194 and 230 cu in 6 cylinders,,,,we surely grab those 250 engines and put them in our 1st Gens,,,,,they only came with 90 inch wheelbase,,,,,the 2nd Gens, 67-70 had the 250s as well as two v8s,,,,,you could get them in 1/2 and 3/4 ton ratings and 2 different wheelbases,,,,,

Re: 1st Gen 8 door
so the greenbriar AND G10 were being put out together for 2 yrs (last greenie '65, 1st G10 '64) no? May B i got it wrong (sometimes they name it as "produced in" and not available or "sold in" the nxt yr).
W/a 7 1/2 ft WB it's not much bigger than my 1st gen bronk (avetar). I've seen the lill subbies. Seems almost as small as them. My '68 was "108 inch" (as it said in chrome on the side) & the i6 wuz plenty.
