Re: GMC Jacke's van
Just don't over-tighten them. Rich said he accidentally did it on his and made little indentations on the bumper.

Thanks for the tip! I hate to scratch or dent new chrome.vanny wrote:Just don't over-tighten them. Rich said he accidentally did it on his and made little indentations on the bumper.
It has been 37 years since I put new chrome bumpers on a van! I had a '64 Chevy panel in my youth.

Re: GMC Jacke's van
Love that gas tank! Better keep a spare jug of fuel somewhere for long trips like going all the way to the end of the driveway...

Re: GMC Jacke's van
I think it would take more than that tank for that 4 barrel to get up the driveway,,,,,,

Re: GMC Jacke's van
It's my short trip tank!
I got the radiator hoses, pipe etc. installed today, all ready for tomorrow's test. Hopefully all is tight and no leaky-poo!

Re: GMC Jacke's van
Thanks! It was on the short list of gotta get done. I found the OEM bumper guards online first, then I had to get the old white bumpers chromed! It was not easy, but thanks to meeting some new friends at a van rally, I was able to get the bumpers done.

Re: GMC Jacke's van
So, going out tomorrow morning to test drive the van with my new junk yard radiator! I am hoping everything is cool... we will see. I had just had my previous radiator done. So, this one better be just as good...LOL
I love my SEAT! It wraps around and hugs my sides. So much better than the old truck low backs!
I can't wait to have the other seat installed.
Don is great taking time to help get this van updated, corrected and much better! Thanks Don!!

GMC Jacke back at it!!!
So, it has been some time since my last post... got a new job been working too much!
So... I have started on my van work again. I just installed my new back up lights yesterday! I picked them up when I was at the Old Car Swap meet a few weeks ago. $7 could not pass it up! Now I can see when backing down my driveway! More work and posts are coming soon!

Re: GMC Jacke's van
I just had to do something simple, so the rear lights was an easy fun project.
I have not got the Radiator back in yet. It had to have a new 4 core put in, it had a crack.
So, I am behind on my projects, due to no time to do all of the stuff! But that radiator is sweet brand new and pretty. So, that is next once I get that radiator in... I think it will be something simple... loose connection or something, I got some new parts so I will get it figured out. I also got an electronic fuel pump like you had... incase I ever get stuck I am good. LOL
You have done wonders with your van. You been working hard on it, good for you. All that done in a short time... I am jealous I will get there on the next train, missed the first! LOL

Re: GMC Jacke's van
And they're prismatic! I was with her when she bought them. The guy was packing up his stuff and had some great deals. I would have bought those lights too but Don picked up a set for me, just like his—about 6 or 8 years ago!! And I got a real nice neutral safety/backup light switch from Harry. Maybe seeing Jacke's will inspire me to finally put mine on!
Did you just put yours on a toggle switch? If so, if anybody's following you too close, you can really blast them with those lights!
Hey, did you buy a burger fan from that guy too?

Re: GMC Jacke's van
Yes, the light came with aon/off switch. The package was missing one wire, but I had wire so I got the light hooked up just fine.
Yes, I did get a hamburger fan for $20 its about a 16" installed it yesterday and got it on a toggle switch. I will post some pictures tonight.
I wish I would have gone earlier to that swap meet I also had my Brass Radiator re-cored with a brand new 4row. It will be a cool running van for sure with that new 4 core and the hamburger fan!
