brake arm removal? Empty brake arm removal?

Post by bigscooter Thu Nov 19, 2015 12:17 am

hi again, I've been trying to remove the master cylinder on my '64. There doesn't appear to be a removable clip on the brake pedal arm. Is there a trick to remove it?

If I'm understanding your question and your 64 is like my 61, there is a really, really thin C-clip that holds it together. It was so thin and buried in dirt on mine that I couldn't see it until I scrubed the area completely clean. I was amazed how close the tolerences were that holds everything together. Hope this helps.

Ditto on my '65. Nearly invisible c clip on the pivot for the brake arm.

thanks again, that was the case. i was able to get the master off.

now i hope i can find some photo examples of a piggybacked dual reservoir master.
I'm guessing that's the cheapest/simplest way to go?

A lot of folks install a  modern dual master, and there are a couple vendors that offer systems. I fabricated my own, using a MC from a Nissan Quest mini-van. The commercial systems are similar in concept but prettier than mine Laughing  Examples include D&D. Do a search and you will find various threads. I talk about my system in This Thread

cool thanks! i've been looking for pictures of a cut up and welded on master with no luck. do you think it would be easier to make something from scratch?
