Re: Old Pictures of Earlies at Work
I just found out the Baxter TV Van from page 12 was repainted into a "Still Working Van" and also some of the history from the owners website. Pretty cool reading. I'll send him a note about Vintage Vans.

Yeah they are, I googled 1960's Police Speed Check Cars and there were a lot of different Police cars used. Some really neat old pictures.

Re: Old Pictures of Earlies at Work
Figured I'd chime in here about the "Baxter TV" van on page 12 and here on 19. I know some might be upset that I re-did a "working" van with cool graphics, but I can tell you with 100% certainty that the Baxter TV repair company never existed. It was just a cool hand lettering job done by the prior owner to fit with the style of vans of that era. And I admit the graphics were cool and there was a moment of pause before sanding it all off, but the van was purchased by me to be put to work for real, and the body work under the cool paint was really sub par. (you can follow th elink on my page to read all about it)=- and I did all the body work myself).
Having said that, the van does have a history of being a work van. It is a '65 that was purchased new in '67 (not sure why it sat on a lot for two years but it has a 65 vin and was first registered in '67) and was put into service as an Aero Oil company van in York PA. I have the original (1967) owners manual stamped with the vin and dated the day it was purchased in 1967 from the dealership. If anybody has any pictures of the vans in use at Aearo Oil company I'd love to see them. Aero Oil is still in business.
The van is now fully restored (minus a new 200 6 Cyl I'm building to replace the tired 170) but it is back in service as a promotional vehicle for my business. In fact I'm bringing it to its first tradeshow in New Jersey in March (the AASPNJ North east show).
Just thought I would add that background to the story of the van since it was brough to my attention. that it has been featured here and that some members might be upset and under the impression that I removed original graphics.

Re: Old Pictures of Earlies at Work
Thanks for the update Strato1. I don't think anyone was too bummed about the graphics, most of the new pictures of vans with old graphics show that the van needs to be restored. There was one in particular I remember from a Phoenix criagslist with a Dry Cleaners van with great patina, but it obviously wasn't going to be able to be saved.
Before I painted my van I looked for evidence of the "Grangeville Fire Dept" lettering below the blue stripe just for a picture but couldn't find anything. (See page 8 )

Yeah Strato1, you've got me all wrong. While I can't speak for everyone else here, It's your van, you paid for it so do what you want. I may like it, I may not(In this case, I do.). It seems like I learn something from all of the projects people do on here. Follow your bliss. JM2C.

Already posted on page 1 Vanny. But definitely an interesting shot. I'm sure those kids remembered that ride for a long time!
I was thinking of making a list of contents to make searching this thread easier.

Sorry Brent, sometimes I see them and honestly don't remember seeing them before...the price of getting older! LOL It is a really cool extension on that EPup though!
I can delete this one if it would make it easier...let me know

Re: Old Pictures of Earlies at Work
Must have been special ordered but yeah, it’s got the additional length but still the round taillights and not the rectangular ones the supervans had. I’d probably like the supervans better if they had the round taillights...
