Rear Leaf Spring Bushings Empty Rear Leaf Spring Bushings

Post by Mad Jack Mon Dec 02, 2013 2:10 pm

I'm having a hard time finding replacement bushings for the fixed end of the rear leaf spring on my '64, the vin plate says it was fitted with 3/4 ton suspension, but I've looked at a 3/4 ton pick-up from the same year and the bushings are 1.25" OD not 1.5".

Anybody have any idea what other model these would cross over from, or where I can find the 1.5" x 2.75" bushings, preferably rubber not poly? Bolt hole size is 9/16". Thanks for any help Smile

.....let me give you a Chevy guy answer,,,,,,,,you have a metal cartridge in there,,,,,,seems to me a bolt would eat into a rubber bushing so they put a metal sleeve in the middle of the cartridge,,,,,,however a 68 Camaro shackle bushing is 1.500 OD,,,,,,9/16" ID if that is they way you want,,,,,,or have,,,,,,,,to go,,,,,,,drilling that bushing out to 3/4" and putting in a #6 sleeve for a 9/16" bolt would probably be a better set up,,,,,,,,,,,,or use polyurethane ones

    Hey Mad Jack,

If the other sources don't come through, check the thread I did on Suspension Bushings. Pretty sure you need RB-71 which is 1.5" O.D. I had a set, (sent to me by accident,) but lost them in my fire I think. They are available!

Awesome... thanks guys, the RB-71 is exactly what I need... now to find the rubber shackle bushings with a 9/16" bolt... apparently they're the same as on the early mustangs!
