Re: What are you up to?
I've brought a Chevy more times than a Ford, so far. Metro van is slated for next year, maybe the Chevy too. They were crawling all over the FJ all day at the show. I'll probably have to do some creative advertising to get all makes showing up.

Probably sacrilege, but, can't you just change the name slightly?

Yes I agree, changing the name from a Econo meet to a Early van Meet will help

Re: What are you up to?
Heading to Coon Rapids Minnesota..
Sold the house and decided to head north..
The Verizon gig in Raleigh never panned out and Minnesota is the best thing going for a job right now. Right now I am waiting to hear back from United Health Group to see if I got the job.
On Tuesday the 17th we are taking Interstate 35 up.. Penske Truck towing the Van.
Already rented a house in Coon Rapids.
On another note..
Replaced the timing gears, and have been tuning my Holley. The Van hasn't ever run as good as it is now.
Any other Minnesota Vanners on the site?

House is still on the market, no bites yet.. :/
We are replacing some carpet with hardwood, hopefully that will renew some interest.
I have the new timing gears on the engine, oil pan back on, and hopefully today get the timing gear cover and side-plates back on.. Going a little slow on the van, but it's cooler then normal today so I hope to make good progress.
My second interview with Verizon was late last week and I am supposed to be told by this coming Friday if I got the position. It's for a location in Raleigh, NC.
Wish me luck..
I sure hate living with most of my garage packed in storage.Scott wrote:The 66 was always a future project, it's better that it finds a new home.
The wife and I are a few weeks from having the house on the market, and the kids are all moved out now.
We are selling the house and I'm looking for something anywhere in the States. At this point I don't know where we will end-up. Whatever happens I don't want to bring two vans with me. At the moment the one van keeps me busy.
Had the 68 out a few weeks ago, kinda racing the engine but backing off as I came into town and BAMB! I thought I hit something, glanced at the mirrors and nothing, looked at the dash and RED lights.
Coasted into a parking lot and couldn't start. Popped the oil cap and turned the key, rockers no longer move.
Tomorrow the timing cover comes off to check the gears.
That's what I mean about this one keeping me busy. There is way to much left I want to add to the 68, and my pockets aren't deep enough for two.
We are kinda looking at Atlanta, or the Carolinas, but anyplace that needs an IT guy is being considered. Well, anyplace but Texas. We want to try something new and we have way to much family here..

Too bad the Raleigh gig didn't work out. There's not enough old van guys here.
Best of luck in Minnesota.

Re: What are you up to?
Wow MagicBus, that interior is one that we would all love to have. Nice work, it's gonna look fresh from the factory after it's final coat! If the inside is any indication, I can't wait to see the outside as well!!! Nice piece of work!
Could you give some details like what brand of primer sealer you're using, how many coats, etc..? Just trying to gather some info on the best way to create a protective barrier to keep rust away as long as possible. Thanks in advance, Vanny!

Now that I got the lasshing straight and the engine running...WOOHOO.
I swapped out the throttle linkage for a go-cart cable. :-)
