Made it to the Petit Jean Car Show and Swap Meet with a few Econoheads. There was a nice 61 Custom Econoline there and it was turning heads. I felt bad for the guy parked next to him in a 66 Mustang.
    I scored a '68 Hollander interchange manual.
In the show there was a concours Cord L2.

It is best to hit that yard in the early spring, or late fall if you want to see anything! There is an Econo Super van in there somewhere if I remember correctly. Here is a pic of that first gen there

That's my grandson Dom. I could see the 3rd day of this show had Gene tired so I didn't pester him at all , just got a signed copy of his truck drawing. There were many vendors also and if I go again next year it will be planned on being there a couple days and camping nearby.
I don't know if you can call this a avan, but it sure would make a party more interesting.

I don't know SV, I got word to him about this site. He says he hadn't heard of it. Maybe he'll drop in sometime. Really these things are scarce enough here in northern MI that an isolated owner may not be aware of a lot of the van info available.

    New GM 350 crate motor.
68, 24 gallon rusty gas tank cut open and sand blasted, welded back together , then sealed with POR15 US Standard tank sealed. Cut 3" out of tank to narrow up for room to mount electric fuel pump on x member. Tested at 5LBS psi for 24 hrs and no leaks
Getting 200 4 R transmission rebuilt now. All running gear will be good to go for a 3000 mile round trip. Will put on almost 3000 miles in all after a trip to NE PA to visit family and back to FL.

Still can't upload photos to this site.

    Just a little update..

House is still on the market, no bites yet..  :/

We are replacing some carpet with hardwood, hopefully that will renew some interest.

I have the new timing gears on the engine, oil pan back on, and hopefully today get the timing gear cover and side-plates back on.. Going a little slow on the van, but it's cooler then normal today so I hope to make good progress.

My second interview with Verizon was late last week and I am supposed to be told by this coming Friday if I got the position. It's for a location in Raleigh, NC.

    Wish me luck..

I sure hate living with most of my garage packed in storage.

Scott wrote:The 66 was always a future project, it's better that it finds a new home.

The wife and I are a few weeks from having the house on the market, and the kids are all moved out now.

We are selling the house and I'm looking for something anywhere in the States. At this point I don't know where we will end-up. Whatever happens I don't want to bring two vans with me. At the moment the one van keeps me busy.

Had the 68 out a few weeks ago, kinda racing the engine but backing off as I came into town and BAMB! I thought I hit something, glanced at the mirrors and nothing, looked at the dash and RED lights.

Coasted into a parking lot and couldn't start. Popped the oil cap and turned the key, rockers no longer move.

Tomorrow the timing cover comes off to check the gears.

That's what I mean about this one keeping me busy. There is way to much left I want to add to the 68, and my pockets aren't deep enough for two.

We are kinda looking at Atlanta, or the Carolinas, but anyplace that needs an IT guy is being considered. Well, anyplace but Texas. We want to try something new and we have way to much family here..   Smile
