Re: What are you up to?
Best wishes Scott! I have an aunt and uncle who live in Sandy Ridge, NC. Nice people out there. They LOVE NASCAR! I remember visiting them when I was a kid and his Grandmother drove a chevy with Cragar Mags! She's the little old lady from Carolina! Go Granny, Go Granny, Go Granny Go!

Re: What are you up to?
GOOD LUCK Scott with relocating and with selling the Van sometimes a change is nice and well deserved. .. I also have been busy myself I decided to change all my belts and hoses because the van sat around for so long. When I was replacing my heater hoses I noticed my intake manifold seeping coolant so I pulled it apart painted it Orange to match the rest of the motor and painted all the brackets and pulleys black also that's when I noticed the left header gasket blown there were oval port gaskets instead of round port so I pulled the headers off re painted them and installed new gaskets. Finally got rid of the mid 70s spare a bias ply tire with the tube still holding air sand blasted the rim repainted it black with a new tire and yesterday ordered a NOS Stock 1966 GMC white hub cap to top it off. Today I ordered my gauges finally I have been running around with a lazer thermometer I bought the summit Electric gauges so I can run wires instead of tubing and a spring wrapped sender. I have the same problem as Chester I STILL CANT POST or DOWNLOAD PHOTOS either I don't know if its the computer or me I just hope I can figure it out before I start my Interior this fall since I named the Van RED RYDER so I will go with a western theme inside.COOP is coming over my house before Turkey Rod Run in November to do some air brushing on the VAN I will be installing my gauges this weekend and installing the shorter door straps from some of the parts I have extra.. ..JOE VAN...

Re: What are you up to?
Just hanging out with old school mates in Marquette, Michigan. Some I have not seen in 35 years! Great to see them again. That's the good news. The bad is I rolled my ankle and will be on crutches for the next two weeks! Err!

Re: What are you up to?
Quite often I'd get a knock on the door folks askin about the van. Finally, someone hit me in the right mood that realized I wasn't just gonna give it away.A deal was struck, and came today and took to new home about 4 miles from me.Great guy that bought it.Told him of the website,we'll see if he shows up.

Re: What are you up to?
Purty!!
I want to see how those Astro seats go in, I have been wanting to hit the salvage yard to get some. Is there room to keep the arm rests on the front seats?

Re: What are you up to?
This is what my front seat brackets started as...
This is how I hacked them up...
After some more grinding and welding...
After filler and paint...
Unfortunately I did not have time to get everything set in this weekend, and I still have some old holes to fill in on the fender wells. I should get the engine in this week, then I can mount those new buckets in and see how well they will work. :-) My neighbor will be bringing scraps so I can start fabbing the quick release brackets. They should be fairly easy, jusy angle iron and 1/4" round.
