Re: What are you up to?
I am still hopin so. Got the FUBAR'd engine mount bolt out too. So, that will go in maybe WEDS (?) or worst case this weekend so I can drive it some before hand to determine if it will be reliable enough (lol). I think wife plans to drive her car anyway, just in case.RipVanArkie wrote:Youve been busy this weekend! looking good. Still going to be ready by Labor Day W/E?

Re: What are you up to?
Well, I spent 3 days this weekend and got the engine in and all buttoned up. But, when I tried to start it yesterday afternoon...no go. It was late so I had no time to pull out my timing gun to see if I was getting spark (assume not). !st guess is some of those crappy brittle wires snapped (pretty sure I got the few wires there are hooked up right ;-). Or, maybe the distrib was too far out? Or, maybe it's just cranking waaaay to slow to do anything. And on top of that, the new fuel line I tried to bend leaked...lol. Oh well, should have time to get back to it after the holiday and hopefully get it runnin. Then I can try puttin in my HEI, then my wiring kit and go thru more headaches. :-)

Re: What are you up to?
Made it home last night from Michigan! Made a Two day run of it... 750 miles on day 1 & 820 miles on day 2!!! Tired as hell but glad to be back.
Rolled my ankle last week so have to take it easy before getting back into the swing of things but had a great time back home with all the family reunions and visiting High school buds. A good time was had by all but glad to be back home in my own house after 2 1/2 months!!!!
Going to pull both vans out and give them a good wash and cleaning today just to make myself feel better....
Hope all is well with all of you! And it is good to be back!!!

Re: What are you up to?
Glad you had a good, safe trip Dan. The vans are just a motivation to get home safely and quickly! Hope it's not too hot back in Fla! My wife and I will be headed to Disney in October to celebrate our 33rd Anniversary! Man, am I old or what???

Sorry Long post
After Tom's(Millwright71) visit last week I have been really working to get it running down the road.
Drained rear end & changed fluid(sludg),new valve cover gaskets(leaking), changed oil (Real black)& filter(rusted on outside)(7 qts), finaly changed the cracked Ex manafold(Thank's again Joe(Digs)
" />
Spent alot of time making all new throttlel linkage(cabel just keep sticking),re check trans & brakes & there fluids, tires, front end grease, put in drivers seat belt(Inspected in 1978 in Yellow on it??) Drained rad down to redo tank & (try)to fix temp gauge(Not) refilled . Check everthing again. Start it up , sounds like a stock car, shut it off check Ex manafold & pipe D nut, restart let warm up some, retighten bolts some, shut off re toque more.(that did it) Get cell phone & driver license, let my neighbor know in case I have a problem. Off I go down road,It takes off like a BOH then starts coffing & poping?? head back home, blew vac cap off one port(put back on with clamp) Try again, better but still coffing about half peddel. Guess carb & timming still not at sweet spot yet. But it did go fast & nothing broke or fell off. Getting there(sorry for long post)

Re: What are you up to?
Recovering from a long, HOT, WET weekend at the 11th Annual MidSouth Econoline Meet. Had a great time but it was triple digit and we got something like 5 inches of rain! Good thing, the rain didnt start til after we returned from the show n shine at the Museum. We had 11 early Econolines and one Willys FJ3A. Link to photos in my signature below. oh yeah, the local Fiat club made an appearance and set up beside us for a photo opp. and then they were on there way as quickly as they arrived.
