Post by Guest Thu Aug 23, 2012 9:53 pm

Hello, I am new here on Vintage Van and am an owner of a 68 chevy van. I do custom interiors and plan to do a very custom interior in my van and show it as advertisement for my company. The first thing I need to do tho is increase my stopping power upgrade my brakes to front discs. I have 6 children who go to the shows with me and want to make the ride as safe as possible. I've read older forums but are wondering if anyone has any newer or improved ideas.

First off...Welcome in to Vintage Vans.
M1dadio is a member here who makes up about 4 four different flavors of disc brake setups and lives on your side of the coast.
Just do a search from main forum page for disc or disk brakes. You'll find several threads on them.

Thanks guys, very helpful info. I would like to get my hands on that bracket though. I have the dimensions might have my fab shop make me a set. Just curious, has anyone ever tried a IFS mod on their van???

We aren't holding back on anything its gonna be our showpiece after all. I'll post progress pics, also check out our work on facebook. Thanks Again.

Will definitely post pics as soon as we get started. after we solve the brake issues we want to lower the stance a bit and beef up the 283cid, maybe swap it out. Any input out there on those issues would also be helpful. probably get to the interior this winter and have it ready for GoodGuys next year. Hopefully sooner but, considering we have customers cars to work on also, its hard to find time for our personal stuff.

I am about 3.5 hour away from your place via the ferry that leave sidney to Anacortes and a quick speed down I5.

That's not bad at all. We go a job coming from Florida... It happens to be an airplane but that's still a long flight to get an interior done. Especially without an interior. We'll keep you posted on what ours will look like. Its gonna be pretty exotic; leather, suede, sound system,TV monitors to show slideshows of our work, we're even thinking about a wet bar and kegarator for the GoodGuys festivities. If your interested we need brake, steering, and suspension parts and you need an interior, maybe we could work out some barter? Our websites down right now but if you have a facebook account, check us out there.

    Hey man!

    Welcome to Vintage-Vans...

    I live in Tacoma/Parkland..

I am really into these vans and I've just completed a disc brake conversion on my '65.

I also just lowered both my vans front end and I am installing a 327 in my '65.

I have a pretty good knowledge of these rigs and also a good stash of parts if you need anything

I am a member of a local club "Bustin' Loose early vans" we are Puget Sound region chevy, dodge and ford early vans ONLY and we'd love to have you join the fun!

I have a spare set of brackets that I will sell... or trade for upholstery work?

I'd love to meet you, I'll PM you with my phone number!
