There's larger headlamps on the 66... it that factory? If so, I think my dream G van just got narrowed down to 64-65... I like the smaller headlamps.

So many... The 66 has the lower openings in the grill while the 65 has a 64 grill...

Hey, is it just that the 65 has the headlamp surrounds colour-matched with the body? Anyone?

Good Answers!!!!! so what you are looking at are 2 1st Generation panel vans, with different window options. And the 65 has the 5 slot grille, which is really a leftover 64 body that they call an early 65. The late 65 and all the 1966 vans have 6 slots. The chrome headlight rings on the 66 are probably from the fancier passenger carrying, station wagon type of van called a Sportvan. But new question, name each thing I need to change on the 1966, to make it look like the 1965. (There are at least 10 things. )

Headlights are the same,,,,,,64-66.... Its the chrome trim rings that make it look different. And BvrWally,,,,you are right about all that other stuff,,,,but it started in 1967, when the 2nd Gen bodies, (1967-70), took over.

Both are panel vans,,,,,,,Sportvans have the insides upholstered, slide out steps, chrome strips and head light rings, side windows pop out to open, and a little triangular window behind each front door. And the windows are set in on the body, while the panel windows are flush mounted in the body. And the SportVans say SportVan, or SportVan Custom, or SportVan Deluxe on the emblem behind the front doors. And they don't say CHEVY VAN anywhere on them, so you don't think it's a truck........

Are those mirrors off an 80's Chev van?

And do you mean "What do I have to do to make the 66 look like THIS 65?" or "What do I have to do to make this look like a 65?"

    fun game BTW!

The mirrors on the 65 are aftermarket types,,,,,but you would find them on other vehicles. What I meant is what do I need to do to make the 66 look EXACTLY like the 65,,,,,,what needs to be added to it or taken off it so I would have twin red 1965 Chevy Panel Vans,,,,,,,like for starters,,,,,paint the bumpers Black,,,,,

You would have to change the grille and all the sheet metal under the floor for the wider "mouth" 66 opening is 31 inches wide 64 and early 65 are 25 inches wide.

,,,,Thats a major change, get rid of that Heavy Duty Cooling System,,,,,it's interesting to see how they patched together a 64 and kept improving on them until 1970. If you have a 1970, you would laugh at how primitive the 64 was and what they changed throughout the years,,,,,,,
