Cold air induction

I'm working on a cold air induction to suck some of that cool air from down under the motor. As we all know the air in the dog house is super hot.
I have a carb hat from Classic Inlines and am in need of a air filter base from a 250ci with a Carter single barrel carb. Classic Inlines does not stock a base to fit a Carter carb. So I need to fabricate one from an old base. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Sorry, I can't help with your plan, but I plan to do something like this... suck cold air from in front of the radiator, beofre it enters the hot dog box.
