The engine compartment reaches high temps when you run the engine. I was wondering if any company manufactures cold air induction for carb or has anyone tried to create their own?

Re: Cold Air Induction
I saw a van with it once. It had a scoop on the drivers side of the van behind the door and what looked like 3" duct going to a canister filter then to the doghouse. I couldn't see how it was hooked up inside the dog house but the owner said he made it himself. It was pretty ugly. I also saw one the had a scoop on top of the van with duct going down to the dog house. That was even uglier.

Re: Cold Air Induction
No reason why you couldn't fit a scoop behind the grill, like modern cars have. Sounds like a good idea.
Not driven mine yet, so i couldn't answer this, but what is the engine doghouse temperature like whilst driving along....? Does is still hold a lot of heat?
I had a thought about some sort of vent in the top of the doghouse, with a pipe going up and out, or sideways behind the top of the front seat. I haven't come up with a neat way of doing it yet, but if i install a fridge behind the front passenger seat, i may be able to conceal something there, and have a small chrome vent on the side of the van.
This would help to reduce temperature build up when you turn the engine off, which i have heard can be a problem....

Re: Cold Air Induction
I was thinking more along the lines of something pictured below and then run the end of the intake tube behind the front grill. Does this sound feasible?
The best cold-air intakes are optimized for a specific engine application, providing increased airflow at ambient temperature and raising power at all engine speeds. However custom air intakes can be created using mandrel bent air intake tubes and aftermarket air filters if there is not currently an air intake on the market for yoru car or truck. Fuel savings of up to 4 miles per gallon and a gain of 16 horsepower to the wheels can be achieved for most V6 cars.

Re: Cold Air Induction
I am going to put a Holley 2300 series two barrel carb on my 200 ci probably the 500 cfm and I am thinking of using one of these covers on it. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170383656820&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT . http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170383656824&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT
I am thinking of running the blue flexible tubing through the sides of the dog house just behind the seats, then through the floor and towards the front of the van ending just behind the grill
Here's the carb I want to use. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=370283569938&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
Here's the aluminum radiator I will put in it along with a 2800 cfm electric fan.
