Just wanted to say I just read your thread and looked at the photos and that is one of the nicest stock vans I've seen. It looks clean in every place. It even has that cool clock in the steering column bracket. Love the color. I look forward to the day mine is as sharp. Congrats on a super nice van!

By the way, is your grill painted or chromed out somehow?

As an addenda to the IMHO overused "Iron Duke" term, the pic you show does look like the shortend 6cyl that uses mostly the same parts and was later put into the Mercruiser 153 and 181 (2.5L or 3L) and Jeeps. Really, from what I know the one you have is the best of all and quite indestructable. What's really amazing is it's almost the original Otto Cycle engine from the guy who made the first 4cyl, 4 stroke engines in Germany. Guess he got it right out of the gate. Gotta love German engineering.

I got one for ya if you want. Wouldnt mind trying to install that 4 cyl into my dad's 1975 Toyota Celica GT, if you want to sell it. (the motor)

If your going to take the van from original anyways I would go with a V8 swap. A nice 283,292, 327,350 would be nicer IMO.

sorry i hadnt figured out how to delete thread (or if i could). but gave up on keeping original rare 4 cylinder thing , wanting to be able to drive it more ,including a trip here or there .if i did have head redone which it needs seals anyway , i still dont think i would be comfortable w power , besides i got a great deal for nice running 230 and i help on the swap out ,for my motor .not having a garage and not too mech inclined , i think this 6, will be enough for me to keep running cool ,and attempt to keep it simple .
thanks again Matthew on the dash plate , and will post pic on here when i recieve radio and install it .Also i hope you get good news on your car w/the dealership ,i read on the other thread .

I got it back over a week ago and it is running better. Keeping my fingers crossed. Hard to make a $600 a month payment on something that isnt working correctly. LoL

Excited to see the plate installed!

In case you end up sticking with the 4 cyl. just about any decent machine shop can clean up a factory maniforlds to breath better and you can get 2.5 ltr. boat engine heads (Mercruiser, OMC, Cobra, Penta, etc.) that have big valves and about 20% more horsepower and torque. Just my 2 cents in case switching engines is too much a hassle.

Or put a supercharger on it. That would kick! Got so much more room in that doghouse with that 4 cyl the possibilities make me drool. LoL Very Happy
