Just joined the forum & the community of van owners with the purchase of a 1967 GMC Handibus Custom. Saw the van in a field near Decatur, TX while in route to a trail run with my wife last winter (sat in field 14 years). It was like a van we owned in Washington State back in the 80's. After a few months of thinking about how I might get her running, decided to make an offer. The van has a 283 with standard trans, all the glass is good, just a few minor dents, and is all stock. We agreed on a sales price ($350.00) & we trailer her home. Currently, we have removed the rear suspension & gas tank, wire brushed the frame and under body panels - primed - applied rubberized sealant. The differential was rebuilt with new bearings - seals - cleaned & painted. New bushings have been installed into the leaf springs after a cleaning & paint. The gas tank is being steamed cleaned 7 will be reinstalled upon completion. Just have to install the new brake hose, wheel cylinders, & brakes. Then we move to the front to see what we have...
I do need an engine cover & a driver's side front floor pan. Also, lead on a new dash pad or cover for the existing pad.
