Just got back in town and read the news. All i can say is I am saddened. Duane was a great guy and an excellent photographer. Many of the pics of my van on this site are because of Duane. V-V and the vanning world lost a true friend. Rest in Peace Duane!

Re: Duane Hover RIP (Duane70GMC)
I'm sorry.... every time I try to go and post something about Duane, I just get all teared up.... really...
**wipes more tears**
Never got to meet him in person (regretfully), but I admired him and his talent.... and he was such a God-send when we were trying to get this "project" of ALL Early's meeting on common ground with the site off and running... I owe him a lot...
*wiping tears*
when I can, I will say more about MY time with Duane, be it on the internet as it is, but it is still a connection.... you know what I'm saying?
I would LOVE to hear from our members, any memories of gp70 (Duane) you have.... Make this a memorial to him......... Please.... I want to hear your stories.....

Re: Duane Hover RIP (Duane70GMC)
I have a few.....
First time I went to Taz Fest Duane and I went with our vans. I drove my 69 and Duane drove his 86 chevy his 70 was down at that time. We got a late start because Duane got lost coming to my house. For Duane I lived in the sticks, so we take off and all is fine till we get to Chicago. The traffic is lunch hour on a Friday and very heavy. Duane being from the Detroit area is having no problem, but me being from the country I'm not used to city driving so I'm staying close to Duane as we get threw the city. Well we get to Taz's place and we were welcomed by Taz. So welcomed that impressed Duane and myself. We check out Taz's early's and Taz being the great guy he is gave Duane some parts for his 70 Chevy. Saturday rolls around and the early's were showing up and you could see in Duane's eyes he was in Heaven. Taz is a great host and we all went out to Dinner Friday and Saturday nites. On Saturday nites cruise out to dinner Duane road with me to Dinner. At every stop sign all of us were doing burn outs. I think Duane really enjoy this, he was grinning ear to ear. There were 6 Chevy vans and 1 8 door Dodge. Well during all those burn outs the Dodges trans went. Taz gets on the phone and in 15 mins the Dodge was loaded and heading back to his house.
Sunday is the show day and if you thought Duane was happy about Saturday turn out you should have seen him Sunday. If I remember there were about 30 early vans there and about 15 late models. Duane took pictures for two hours. This being our first time there we didn't know about the big cook out and I remember Duane going back for a second burger and some more of the great salads that were there. We both had a great time.

Duane ask us to come down to Eastpoint for there cruise. My 69 and gary's 65 Dodge A100 and Duanes 70 GMC. It was a hot day, but we had a great time going the route. Re: Duane Hover RIP (Duane70GMC)
My first "Duane" memory is from the Gratiot Cruise. The first year I owned the van my wife and I went for a cruise. As we rolled along this guy runs out in front of me and wants to take pictures of my van. I oblige and he introduces himself and, you guessed it, it's Duane. If you see my gallery pictures they are mostly because of Duane and his photographic expertise. Duane was a great guy, and excellent photographer, and fun to be around. I will miss Duane and Baker's will never be the same without him.

Re: Duane Hover RIP (Duane70GMC)
After loading the van on the flat bed, Duane's brother wanted to give me something. We went down in the basement where Duane had a small work shop. He gave me a picture of Duanes van when he got it. What really got to me was on the wall he had a picture framed of me with my van. On this wall in there. Of all the great pictures of vans he took over the years he thought enough of me to display a picture of me in this special work area
