New to the site, new to my old van (almost, still negotiating)
looking at buying a 69 chevy but curious.... never seen a panel van (drivers side) and a window van (passenger side) in one vehicle.
I like the look. Is it common? what's the body style called?

they are called display vans. The reasoning behind them was to provide a place for storage bins on the drivers side and visibility out the right side windows. Very popular with electricians and plumbers or anyone that their work had a lot or small pieces that they needed on the job.

Any idea how rare these were? Numbers produced?

And the million dollar question... if I have to pull the motor - HOW?

there are three ways to pull the motor, one, out the pass front door,
two, out the side cargo doors,
three, out the bottom, I have done one and three with inline 6 and v8s
never gone out the side cargo doors, if you have a lift, out the bottom is
by far the fastest, but out the pass side door is not bad,
if it is a 6 comes out with everything attached, if it is a v8
you have to remove exaust manifolds/headers, fuel pump and spark plugs, and
if you have tall valve covers they will need to come off also. if I remember correctly
the temp sender in the head has to come out also. hope this helps

I have a 67 that is the same as your van, All window on pass side and none on the driver side.
I'll guess you have a 6 cyl, That's what mine has. Pull the motor out the bottom, take the front axel and leaf springs off, drop the motor and jack up the front of your van. Unbolt motor and trans , Pull the motor out the front wheel well. This might sound like a lot of work but its not. Have a friend or two to help or that motor will hit the floor. Also the more eyes the better.

I went through the cargo doors... Piece of cake... Just had to extend the legs all the way out on my cherry picker.
