Carb set-up question Empty Carb set-up question

Post by flyintiger Mon Sep 19, 2016 7:51 am

    Morning everyone,

I was going to work on the van this weekend, but couldn't keep it running! It would start and immediately die unless I manually held the choke closed. After letting the motor reach operating temp, I let off the choke and it stalled immediately...

The van sat for over a year before we bought it, and wasn't running great when we purchased it. I was planning on cleaning/rebuilding the carburetor (just ordered a rebuild kit) when I had the time, looks like that project has moved up on the priority list!

My big question is, does anyone know what the factory set-up is for the mixture screw? The dodge manual doesn't list anything. Just looking for a good starting point for when I slap it back together after the rebuild.

    1967 A100, 225cid, 3sp with Holley 1920 carb.

1 1/2 to 2 turns out is usually a good starting point. Back it out until the engine starts to run rough then slowly turn it back in until it smooths out.

You're welcome Tiger, if you need the 10 or so pages of service procedures for rebuilding the carb, just say so!
