    Carter carb Empty Carter carb

Post by hometeam Fri Jun 07, 2013 8:49 pm

I have a carter ball and ball carb with the part # 2072 stamped on it
    I have a 67 a108 with a slant 6 3.7 225 automatic trams.
I am always having to unstick or reconnect components - if it isn't vacum diaphragm getting hung up or float sticking causing it to flood and stink up cab with gas. Wasn't that noticeable until I cleared up vapor lock issues witch revealed carb issues. After tweaking and starting and more tweaking i get it starting nice idling nice drive it on a few short trips here and there and the problems start up again- blackish splatter out of exhaust that goes away after warm - needs a few pumps to start-rugh cold idle which will lead to the two foot driving from neutral to drive. And the readjustments begin.

Looked up carb and this part # and from what I get it comes out of a 53 Cadillac is this correct? i want to have it rebuilt but is it wise to do so if the carb is the wrong one for the car.
Do I just start from scratch with a whole new set up.

Or stay with the devil I know ?
