It has about 100 pin holes in it after sand blasting the crap off of it, and 1 repair in the bottom that would need to be redone. It's no prize, but if you don't have one I guess it is better than nothing. Almost all of the problem areas are under that paper mat that they put on top of the tank and down the front to keep it from rubbing.
I've got a mint top...maybe we can take your lower and my upper and make someone a good one geek

Not a bad idea... might take it in trade for some of the stuff you need.

coat the inside with a product called " por 15 ". did my tank 9 years ago with a bunch of pin holes and it's still good as new. it,s a lot of work but it saved a fuel tank from the scrap heap.
it had a couple holes the size of a pencil but tape over the hole and follow the instructions to the letter and IT WORKS.

I bet there is at least a dust pan of chunks in the tank. The pad on mine must have been in the wrong place since it only covered half the top and then down half of the front.

My parts van has a lot of pin holes in it's gas tank. I bridged solder over several of them. Someone had pieces of copper bridging the larger ones.

I put the tank up on the shelf for now. I have one good one for my pickup so this one can sit for a while. I got the old girl running today with a length of fuel line and a 2 gallon gas can. About 2 minutes of cranking and a squirt of ether and it was off to the races. Very Happy Idles rough, but sounds great. Since the brakes are good on it, I couldn't resist and torched the tires. Cool I felt the rear end start to shift left and SUPRISE it's a 489 suregrip with 3:91 gears. bounce My son was standing there with his mouth wide open, and says "we are putting that in the pickup right?"

I can see all the trouble I'm going to get in with that rear end. It was great to torch those old tires up yesterday and makes to hours worth it. I was getting kind of down on all the work and no "fun" in between, but I got a little dose of things to come. All better now.

Notice the helper spring??? only has one on the left side, my guess is due to the weight of the generator.

remind me to never piss you guys with sawsalls off to much. you guys can make short work out of a vehicle in record time. i see a good front end to hang on the wall as a trophy with working lites or as a bar for the rec room and lots of other goodies.

That's one cool way to do a helper spring.

When my glass trucks get old and tired, I like to upgrade the driver's side rear spring so the the truck like to lean the other way instead Very Happy

Makes for for a little bumpier ride though bounce

I had forgotten about that the bar being built an a nose. This one is going on my pickup, there is a lot less body work to do on this one. Both lower pillar corners and a small dent by one headlight. The one on the pickup was hit hard and has a lot of bondo in it and one headlight is almost all fiberglass and bondo.

Made some headway today, got the engine and trans out, and most of the power steering system is off and ready for the power washer.
