VIN Body Stamping 1972 E200.. Please Help !!! Empty VIN Body Stamping 1972 E200.. Please Help !!!

Hi all.. I am new to this forum, having recently bought an E200 restoration project.

I have spent a lot of time now crawling around underneath this van looking for the x2 Chassis VIN stampings. I was assured that one was below the doghouse on the passenger side at the upper area of the frame rail.. Can't see it. (The chassis is not caked in grease.. its really clean.)

If any of you guys have found and know where to lacate the chassis VIN's I will be very appreciative of your comments!

    Thank you..

I also read that the second gens vin stamp on Econolines was on top of the passengers frame rail as well. You might have to take a piece of sand paper to it to make it show up better and maybe a little inspection mirror to find it. This site is mostly 1st gens but there may be someone here who can help you out more...I believe there is also a few sites that specialize in 2nd gen fords who could probably answer that question for you. Someone may chime in here or have a pic of the location.

    Thank you.

I have been informed by the previous owner that there are NO Body/Chassis VIN stampings on the 72 vans. (I've gone over it thoroughly.. There is no caked grease, just clean sheet metal and factory paint.. NO STAMPED NUMBERS..)
Previous owner has stated that a sticker was attached to the body just below the Driver Door latch which had been beaten up over the years and which they stripped off when prepping the body for paint. This sticker contained all of the ID info for the vehicle. I have spoken also with a VIN Verification service who stated that yes.. this is entirely possible. In this case, DMV will ultimately assign the vehicle a new VIN...

Yeah, I would definitely get the DMV to issue a VIN for it and get a plate so that it can be easily identified. Not sure if the DMV will issue a new tag for it, but if not, there are services that will create new tags as long as you have the DMV paperwork to support it. Would love to see some pics of your ride...Love the 2nd Gen Econos!

Really strange that there are no body stampings...
