If it is an automatic the switch is on the transmission, on mine which is a 70 trans reverse is part of the neutral safety switch (three wire).

Unless it has been changed 68 still uses the single pin neutral safety switch. The back up light switch on 68 is on the shifter behind the dash. You can change to a 3 pin switch but requires some internal changes to the transmission.
