    Headlight conversions? Empty Headlight conversions?

    Post by Canada17 Fri Jul 29, 2016 4:02 pm

    Hi everyone,
I'm wondering what people have done for headlight conversions. it would seem to be easy enough to go with a higher output halogen, but has anyone converted to LED or HID? I know that HID would require a new reflector. Just curious.

    Pics would be great.

    Thanks,
    Kyle

I just bought these 75w LED  7" headlights from amazon for around $90pair. I like them alot. I was able to wire in the daytime running lights and turn signals. they fit perfectly in the retaining ring and plugged right in. The light is a crisp white, super good viability, and they look modern/cool! Headlight conversions? <a href=Headlight conversions? Img_1710" /> f\Headlight conversions? <a href=

Have you got a link? Or a brand & part number? I did a search of 7 inch 75 watt led headlights & got 40 something pages. I didn't know if they were about the same or some are better than others.
    Thanks,
    Jim

Jim, I don't know if these lights are better or worse than other brands, I liked the look of these and the price even more! I can tell you that I took one of them apart and saw that they are built really well. Before I installed them, I hooked them up to a cordless drill battery to test them out. I ended up frying one due too putting net to positive and vise versa. I emailed the seller and they sent me a new pair two days later. The box says made in China but they are solid and even have an anti flicker box,, it has two small capacitors and a few resistors to maintain a constant voltage

Did those LEDs have the alignment notches like on the stock headlights? Or can you position them as you like?

Do these just plug in to the stock connectors or did you wire them?

    Do these need relays?

    Thanks!

    Those look slick @Canada17.

I love the idea of an LED conversion, if for nothing more than not killing my battery if I forget to turn the lights off when I run into the store, but I want to keep with a fairly stock look. Has anyone had any luck sourcing some thing along those lines?

At 75 Watts that'll still kill your battery I would think. That's more juice than stock halogens. I used a glass H4 conversion bulb for mine and standard power hella bulbs. I really like them, they are crystal clear lens although I would have liked a full halo running light integrated. Definitely much brighter than stock and I haven't even done a directly relay conversion on the headlight power yet.
