Re: GMC Jacke's van
I am planning on some traveling. Gonna go to Washington where I purchased a retirement home, it is Eastern Washington. So If anybody is out in them there parts let me know! The tiny town is near Ephrata WA... Moses Lake area.
So, don't worry if I am not around as much. I am alive and having fun!
Also, it was mentioned, I perhaps brag too much? If I have done that or offended anyone with my posts, I sincerely apologize. I was just excited about fixing up "my creation", which is not a real 1st or 2nd Gen... just a 1-1/2 FrankenGen LOL
Happy Vanning to ALL! It's been nice to meet you all!!

I can't say that I've noticed you bragging. I would say that you have a lot of enthusiasm and I think that's great. Maybe others are jealous of that. I think it's admirable.

Jacke
Don't ever apologize for working hard to get the things you need and at least some of the things you want. These days it seems like excuses are the norm and success is frowned upon. I for one don't look at your posts and see someone who is gloating and anyone who does is sorely misguided.

Re: GMC Jacke's van
I need some guidance regarding my reverse shifting... recently the reverse gear has be difficult to get into gear? The other gears seems to shift fine, but reverse sometimes grinds if forced. Not always, but more than once recently. So is it the reverse gear or the transmission? I have no knowledge about it?
What do you think?

Re: GMC Jacke's van
So... there was nothing wrong with the reverse or trans. It was the stupid owner.
I just needed to shift from 1st into reverse, I was is 2nd. It was fine when shifted from 1st into reverse.
I had not thought about what gear I had been in prior to putting the gear in reverse.
All is well again for now... next I will learn how to open and shut a door!

When I have issues like that, I always check the nut behind the wheel first... I can see it when I look in the mirror!!!

Re: GMC Jacke's van
Well, I am headed back up north for a while to start working on updating the new house in WA.
I am looking forward to having some fun and some work as well.
I have a question: Cold winter
Do I need to have any special heater for the block on the van when parked in the winter in the garage? It gets below freezing where I am moving? I assume you just use straight Anti-Freeze not 50/50 like here? But, you east coasters will know what may be required, I am sure
Thanks for your help!

Re: GMC Jacke's van
Sorry, I live in the western part of the state, but I bet you can get by with just 50/50 anti-freeze. The few times I have been to Eastern Washington during the winter has never been severe.

Re: GMC Jacke's van
Thanks to both of you for getting back with the answers.
I just have no idea about living in the colder weather. I am a true Southern Californian, I cant drive in anything other than a lite wind...LOL
I have a big garage 24' x 32' and I am insulating it inside with spray foam/ then putting drywall. Then adding metal sheet exterior walls to help with the cold wind from penetrating the walls. Cause my van and me gotta keep from being frozen.
I assume during winter I wont drive the old van much... but in the spring and summer months will be full of exploration of the coulees and lakes.

Re: GMC Jacke's van
So, I think I want to change my doors to the solid no window ones. My first van was a panel no window van. But, I liked the pop out windows as well. I have both types, and a guy reminded me, if I don't put the solid doors on soon, the color may not match, because the doors have not been on yet.
The paint is about 1 year old but it has not been sitting out in the sun. Anyway we will see if the color is much different. I can then have the paint guy pin stripe the solid doors too. He would not pin stripe the doors until put onto the van, so the body pin stripe would match up. Nothing worse than a mismatched pin stripe... this project will be interesting to see if the van looks better with or without back windows.
