You might as well gold plate it to match your van.

I did think of gold leaf... but that is too much temptation for would be thieves. I would be worried and would need to hire a guard to watch my gold ring. LOL But I did consider it!
I am buying a hard case to protect it in shipping to and fro as I am sending it out to Utah this week.
The ring really would be acceptable... but the cap needs chrome. That would then make the ring look like crap. So get them both done.

Re: GMC Jacke's van
Better have a piece of cardboard you can tuck under one side of the 8-track tape in case it's not playing right... You're a Class Act, Jacke! Great taste in music, too!

Well thanks Paul. I enjoy making my time machine work for me. I have a pack of matches ready for the 8 track tape wobble! I actually bought some brand new 8 track tapes too. Just a few to make the dream seem real. New 8 track tape deck, new 8 track Led Zeppelin tape. What could be better? Oh ya my HORN RING!!!!

Re: GMC Jacke's van
So when I had the rear sway bar installed, I had a brake shop do it. Evidently they had not an idea about the links needing to be at 90 degrees, in picture maybe 60 degrees. The sway bar cups had a angle to them, I did not realize that would result in a possible bind as the shock go up and down. But it makes sense now of coarse. I have not driven but 10 miles at the most since I had the rear sway bar put on the van. I will need to remove the cups have them heated and bent until the angles out. I am sure glad another vanner decided to take a closer look at my posts about the sway bars. Joyride probable saved me some trouble if not worse! Thanks!!
I asked Don about it he agreed. But also let me know to change my rusty brake lines! Thanks to Donn as well!! Cause the stupid brake man did not mention it... need a new brake man.

Re: GMC Jacke's van
Kudos to Joyride and Donivan for helping a vanner avoid potential danger. Great people on this site and that's what makes vanners so cool...having each other's back when someone needs their assistance!

Re: GMC Jacke's van
So amazingly I was able to get all the gauges and blinkers working. I am now trying to locate the ground wire for the dome light. It has constant power? Although both wires are present there is No ground, I have to locate it in the snarl of wires, to get the dome light ground wire connected. I have two original dome lights plus an old glass light for the back as a courtesy light lower. Should be plenty of light with three. I have a LED small panel in the old glass light it really is bright. Hopefully pictures to follow today's work!

Re: GMC Jacke's van
I may be wrong but I think the headlight switch is the power for the lights when turned all the way till it clicks? That should send the power to the lights? The ground should make contact through the screws that mount the light to the body?JackeFriend wrote:So amazingly I was able to get all the gauges and blinkers working. Someone may have changed some wiring at some point from the switch, Mine has different wiring added in the roof to control the front and back differently.

JackeFriend wrote:I am going to restore a deluxe steering wheel for Russell. I am in between electrical projects waiting for parts. So, I wanted to keep my hands busy.
This wheel has some big chips which mine did not when I did that restoration. So I will have some new challenges ahead. Last picture is after I have just started the first rough sand to get to the base black plastic. Next will be file file file into those cracks, get them open and ready for holding the repair. Gotta make it worse before it can get better.
I will post some pictures as I go through the process.
Here is the first coat of primer, just need to do some final file work and wet sand! What do you guys think!?
Russell your wheel is almost ready
Wet sanding done! Ready for Russell

Thanks guys, I did my best! Today Russell is picking up his wheel. I can't wait to see it when he does the painting. It should look good in his pretty newly painted van.

Re: GMC Jacke's van
I got the switch in for the dome lights. It is nice having actual dome lights front and rear. I still have to add one courtesy light down lower in the back area by the sofa and table.
I am getting everything done to have working gauges, lights etc. I still need to get the gas tank to register right. It pegs to full... I have been told the ground wire may be bad, but it could be the sending wire? I have checked each to no avail because the gauge does not work. Each was ok when checked. I found a Fuel line wire which the previous owner did not bother to install when the did the wiring switch. So maybe the old wire is bad? In any case I just add gas to be sure I don't run out... small things make big differences.

Re: GMC Jacke's van
Today I started the antenna install. I was apprehensive doing it by myself, but everyone was busy and I needed to get the task going. So I did get everything lined up and I drilled out the majority of the three 1"
holes, drill the 1/2" hole through the plenum. But I had to quite I will get at it tomorrow with my dremel. Here are the progress photos...

Good start, your half way there. Next you'll be cutting open the roof for a skylight?
