Steering column replacement Empty Steering column replacement

Hey guys, I'm starting my search for a steering column to convert over to an automatic, down the road. (looking for a 700R4)
Do any of you have any suggestions? I have done swaps in cars/hotrods before but, wasn't sure if there were better ones out there for vans than others. A tilt is an interesting thought, as that is typically what I swap to but I'm not sure it is entirely necessary. My reasoning is I'm really just not wanting to put in a different shifter. The column would be fine. I figure I could adapt a cable to it.
    Thanks!!

I suggest simply finding an auto shifter from a 1st gen.  Then you do not have to replace your column at all.

Or locate the entire auto column from a 2nd gen.

If you get into custom stuff, then it gets difficult and you are on your own. There has been alot of butchery over the years, but none of it impresses me very much.

I'll start looking as I will run the 3 speed for awhile.
I've seen some butchering in my day as well. But fortunately, I have the ways and tools to do this sort of stuff up right.
Big swap meet in Louisville Saturday so I hope to maybe stumble across something that will work.
    Thanks!
