Will a second gen steering column work in a first gen? Also what about the wiring, will it plug in?

The 2nd Gen connector is flat, while the 1st gen is curved. And the 2nd Gen has an extra wire for the Hazard light switch, but you can modify the connector to make it work......and the shifter shaft might be a problem,,,,manual and automatics use different set ups.

Don will the entire column (gearbox and column) bolt up? What I'm thinking about is replacing the tilt column in that 66 (if I get it) with one from one of my 2nd gen parts trucks and going with a floor shifter and cable for the auto trans in it or I might try to make a deal on the wrecked one that I bought.Rolling Eyes It's a factory auto if Big Floyd is telling the truth. That setup that's in the 66 now looks like shit and the guy that has it said that it was kind of hard to shift because the linkage is worn out.

Wideload, I got both 1st & 2gen columns(with gearboxs) out in garage(I'll have to see if there the same mount??) & a few 1st gen in the NY 65(standard shift with GB). If you need a 1st gen let me know.

Thanks Tom. It all depends on what I see tomorrow. I'll let you know tomorrow night how things turn out.
