Vented Drum Brakes Empty Vented Drum Brakes

Post by BADBADGER Sun Jan 04, 2015 9:55 am

Recently I read a short article in Auto Restorer magazine about venting drum brakes. I did a little looking on the web and found some interesting info i.e. reduces fading from heat buildup, cleans out dust and water and increases braking efficiency. Apparently venting drum brakes was gaining in popularity in the 50's but with the increases in disc brakes it kind of went by the way side except in certain automotive circles. So with all of that being said, does anyone know anything about venting disc brakes, has any one tried it.
There is a machine shop in Long Beach, Ca that was one of the pioneers of venting DB's and is still doing it. i am going to contact them tomorrow and get more info.
Am interested in your thoughts on this .
