So when we got the new econoline it came with a bad engine so Ive replaced it with a 200ci straight six that was pulled from a running car. Just started it up and everything seemed to be just fine except that there was a bit of smoke rolling off the engine. Seemed much of it came from the exhaust but definitely some was coming from the engine as well. Im sure my oily hands all over it was the cause of some of the smoke, but is this a normal experience or should I be checking things more closely? Also when I shut her down it dieseled for just a split second.

Thanks in advance for your help. So close now I dont want my excitement to take her for a spin to screw something else up.
