come on !! JOE!!!!!!!!! You should know that!! My 67 is =short =yet as a long pump & heads (drilled) for accessories-I believe is better = as allows for more "aftermarket" accessories mountings! I have kept the short pump on my build & it takes some searching- for  mounting stuff -yet is available!!  hehe =maybe ur a ford:lol!: lol! lol!  guy?? affraid

I keep thinking the "LONG" pump started in about 1968??

WOW..!!!..Twin thoes are some great prices but I sort of want to stay with the stock steel ones... I did all that billet stuff on my 41 Willys and I spent more time cleaning it than I did driving it.!!!..I am going to get the tape measure out and see how much room I have I know the shroud will fit since its a 1968 motor box but not so sure on the clutch fan it may be to close to the radiator for the shroud to actually work and pull the air in.....I may just get a regular 6-7 blade fan and bolt it directly to the pump and see if that will work before I have to go buy all new pulleys and brackets "Again"...and running the alt down below means redoing the wiring "Again"..!!!.. Smile .. lol! lol!2nd Gen water pump "Long" or "Short" 105_1216

I was told the 6 cylinder Van's did not have a full fan shroud is that correct..???..I know I have to make brackets for the shroud because my radiator is not a cross-flow but hang on to them pulleys just in case if I cant get the long water pump style ones to work I will buy them from you...

"Thank's" For the Reply Tom..!!!.. Is the smaller one for a 6 cly.??.. I seen a V8 shroud for sale here and it looks like the one I have on the left of your picture...Do you think I can get away with useing the long pump set up on a factory 2nd gen shroud and clutch fan before I tear it all apart..I know I will have to build some brackets because of the 3 core downflow radaitor set up..Do you know if any V8 Early Chevy (68-70) came with a long water pump set up or were they all short.???.. I had to go with the short set up on my Willys.!!!..                                                                               2nd Gen water pump "Long" or "Short" 105_12172nd Gen water pump "Long" or "Short" 105_1218                                         I Just got off the phone with Car Quest Auto and there is almost 2 inch hight difference between the "Long" & "Short" water pump.. affraid ...

long water pump style was changed from short style when chev recast the heads for the mounting bosses holes on front of heads!! All accessories were then mounted from those areas. That design was a carry over from the 1965 396 chev engines as the heads accessory bolt holes were done to the big block engines then.

Thanks Guy's after seeing Tom's picture and makeing a few calls looks like the early chevys came with a "Short Pump" so I will ditch the clutch fan and go with a regular fan and bolt it to the pump with a small spacer that should make up the 2 inch difference..I see on Toms photo the alt is mounted under neath also I am not going to try to hunt all the right brackets and pullys and change everything around so I will work what I have useing the factory shroud and a regular fan... Very Happy ...2nd Gen water pump "Long" or "Short" Sum-g410
