Swan neck mirror...
I have swan neck mirror mounts with 5" convex mirrors....they are impossible to see whats behind you. Peterson makes a 4 1/2 X 8 1/2 (flat) mirror with an offset pivot...has anyone used this particular setup? I like the looks of the swan necks and want to use them.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: Swan neck mirror...
How's the visibility Savage?
What I like about the 609 is the pivot is offset...so theres more glass above the bottom of the window.
But, I'll let you know how well they work after I get them.

Re: Swan neck mirror...
It was a happy accident. I had lower mounts for the west coast mirrors, the Ford lo mount mirrors I was running were broken and fugly, and all I had laying around was the Honda mirrors. It was going to be temporary, but I like them so they'll stay for a while. The secret to visibility is definitely the height of the mirror.

Re: Swan neck mirror...
So I have an idea. This is a pic of my bus I had in high school (1976). Check out the mirrors they use. The mount is the hinge pin. The are about 8mm in dia. I think this might work on my handivan. The mounts are about $10 plus the mirror. Picking up a door today to get a window regulator out of it. Thought I would practice on the extra hinge. They make kinda the same thing for bugs also but with smaller mirrors. I will let you know how it goes.

Re: Swan neck mirror...
I love small peep mirrors, and dislike the looks of my westies. but I love my visibility with them. I guess i'm just getting too old, and am going for practicality and safety.

Re: Swan neck mirror...
.....the reason swan mirrors are so rare is that people threw them away the 1st time they drove their van......
