Re: The Good Morning Thread
Working with Don and others trying to rebuild my sender gauge. Don had a good idea (as he always does) so we'll try it as soon as I can get the part. If it works I'll let everyone know. Rain expected this weekend and since my driveway is my garage probably won't get time to work on Handi...as she's called by my friends. I am Rich only by name so I don't want to sell a kidney in order to bid on the new sender on ebay.

Re: The Good Morning Thread
Quiet springlike stretch of weather coming for us. Did the Q/T thing with the missus yesturday, plan on sneaking off to the pit to get some time in on the doghouse again today. Have to switch over to things that "make " money this week. Some trucks and equipment to prep for the season and let the wallet re-charge for a bit,,,

Good morning all.............gotta go down and take my water operator test today at 1pm. Right in the middle of the day, so you cant get into anything major. When I get home I'll be under the parts van cutting off the clamps on the heater core hoses that are rusted solid.

I've been a D3 for 11 years now, but when Ruthie's dad was dying last year I spaced my renewal, Cali DHS are jerks and wouldnt let me renew late. By there standards you must hold a 2 to test for a 3 and I couldn't get my "official" transcripts in time for the deadline on the appplication, so I had to take the 1. This is the first time I've taken the "new format" testing............did I pass? Yeah I'm pretty sure I did, although they ask some pretty obscure question on the test. In 6 months I'll take the 2, and then six months after that I'll take the 3. Thats the only way I could get a cert quickly to shut the office up.
We are a dual cert district, so I have to have at least a 1 for my position. Im in the collections side 95% of the time but do hit the water side from time to time just to make sure I still know what I'm doing for on-call. I'm maxed out and certed at supervisor level on the collections side and trying to get into the plant to get operator certs. In Cali you can test for them, but cant hold them unless your in the plant. Doubt they will let me in there since I only have 3 1/2 ears left till retirement.

Re: The Good Morning Thread
Coming off a very pleasant week weatherwise here. Maybe a little rain today, just enough to ignore some of the Honey Do's would be good. Thinking of dragging a battery and air compressor around to see if a couple of the other projects will start and move after sitting all winter.

Re: The Good Morning Thread
Finally a rain free weekend here ! Took the van on its first longer voyage yesterday, 130 mile round trip. All the systems seem to be working fine, made the switch to 2- 16lb rad caps last week. temps stayed steady @ 185-190, no visible signs of overflow or leaks. Plan on driving it around some more today, maybe check on gotavan, see how his ride is coming if he's home.

Geez MK !! Y'all ever thaw out, out there ?? I was debating on whether to tinker on the van or jump on two wheels today. It's gonna be about 90 today,so the bike is the better option.

Re: The Good Morning Thread
Well he made it, I had to go down and meet him on Hwy 18 and we came up and loaded in the back of the 4x4 and took it down to his truck. Will post a pic later of his adventure. It stopped for awhile and the sun came out..........now its snowing again.
I've been ridin the bike to work for a couple of weeks now, guess it will be a couple of days till I ride again.

Re: The Good Morning Thread
When my friend Jeff and I started on our road trip from the city this morning it was 60 and sunny. The hour and 20 minute drive from LA to Twin Peaks should of been a piece of cake. As we got closer to the mountains it started to rain a little and up the mountain we went. At 3000 ft it got a little foggy, at 4000 ft we hit a little snow then at 5000 ft...wow....5-6 inches. It was 9am and the roads hadn't been plowed yet. To late to turn back now so we trudged onward...laughing at 15 mph. A mile or so from MK's house the road was to much for my little Ford Ranger and we got stuck. It's May 23 in southern California. I didn't even think to check the weather report for snow and I don't have much use for snow chains on the LA freeways. I backed down the road a few hundred feet and made my way back to the highway, called MK and he rescued us "flatlanders" in a 4x4 and we made it to his house in one piece. On the way down the mountain one car was on it's roof and another one had slid off the road and hit the mountain. A successful trip, I met another vanner and his better half, got the right rear for my van and us "flatlanders" made it safely back to warmer weather.

It was a trip to see snow that late in the year, next time I get up that way MK I'll bring my snow chains.....unless it's July. Thanks for the parts, will put them to good use.
