Good Night Irene? Empty Good Night Irene?

Post by Donn Thu Aug 25, 2011 2:32 pm

We are about a mile from the ocean. Getting ready to board up the windows.
Got the supply's and of course plenty of beer..Going to an Irene party tomorrow nite after that who know's.
It's hard to plan for with the way the weather guys get it wrong all the time.
Last one 1985 we lost electric for ten days, that was rough.
Last time bought a battery operated TV to keep somewhat sane. Now that there is no longer broadcast TV I might have to read by flash light..
The '63 Econo is at the shop on a lift. I am going to leave it about 6 feet off the ground and pray the water does not get it. Just finished por 15 on the entire frame and floors. confused

theres nothing like the continued assault of news of the impending storm and doom etc - been there too many times now and had to learn the hard way not to let yourself get swept up and all worked up about it - by the way there is broadcast ( over the air ) tv its just digital now - need a converter or different tv - oo3

The difference is the people that built New Orleans did it knowing they were under sea level! I imagine if there is any flooding in NC that it will be spotty and limited to lower lying lands where water naturally tends to collect. Stay safe and try not to be too bored if the power goes out.

Made it pretty well at my house. For some reason we are one of the few blocks that still have power bom
Most of the area has tree's down or are flooded.
So I have about 15 friends here with more on the way to enjoy the AC, TV..they are all bringing food and booze!!
    Having a giant sleep over.
My daughter works at WPIX TV in the city and is stuck there, mass transit has been closed down. She is hoping to get home Tuesday. Not happy not having her under my roof for this whole thing, but she made it through safe, so I am greatfull for that.
Checked on the '63 Econo and she is fine..so all is good.

I made it through the storm OK but we lost power from 8:00AM Sunday until 2:00PM Monday. No flooding even though I am only 4 blocks from Narragansett Bay. No wind damage, just a lot of small branches on the ground.

    Duane,
Gil was here without his pickup last Sunday for the picnic.
He broke a motor mount and did some damage to the radiator. I had a mount in stock so I gave it to him and he should be fixed by now. We'll both be there. I am stopping at Tim's on Wednesday and will meet Eric in Memphis around 12:00PM Thursday. We should arrive at Petit Jean about 4:00PM. I made your mat for you. Bringing some home made Italian food with me.

    Fred,
I read about his motor mount problems he other day. I was wondering if Irene did any damage up his way. A lot of flooding going on in the North. I hope he's OK. Looking forward to seeing you both. Have a safe trip. If you have trouble just let me know. You know where my parts stash is. You're welcome to it if need be.

    Duane in Tennessee.
