    The Wheel Thread

A PHOTO HEAVY, comprehensive and well documented thread of wheel/tire and suspension options that are known to work.  And heck, time changes things!  This makes it easy to update your info with any changes you make.

(Yes, the info is out there, scattered over a million posts, spanning three sites and 20 years, but lets start to get it all in one place.)

    Good idea...

    1964 Falcon
    195/75R14 BFG's
Not sure of wheel width; guessing 6", with 2 different bolt patterns so probably not OEM
Bullet caps are 3.125" DIA (I've been asked)
Rear has stock springs etc, no mods
Front: stock w/removed middle leaf, about 2" lower than original

15 x 8 5-4.5 back rims 4.25 backspace with -6 offset 235/60/15 biggest tire to fit with no rubbing or clearance issues on the rear. Front
15 x 4.5 with zero offset 155/80/15 . I like the skinny front wheels look. Did have to use 1/8" wheel spacers on the front wheels in order for rim to clear weights on the front brake drums. Hope this helps anybody trying to figure wheel sizes out. Suspension is stock

Gotdirt, I like the stance of yours, hows it ride with the front leaf out?

Mine has a similar setup, 14" steel wheels but with 195/75's, though they have seen better days Wink 1964 w/144, stock suspension is a bit week, has newer monroe shocks.

OK, here are my new wheels to add to the wheels thread.

The wheels are Cragars and they are 14" x 7" with a 4.5" back space. Tyres are 205/70/14 BF Goodrich. Suspension is all standard (a bit saggy at the rear) and there are absolutely no clearance issues. Not even close.

I didn't get to look at these photos on a big monitor until now.  Looks like they fill up the wheel wells nicely.  Can you add a couple more pics?  One from the front and one from the rear, from down low to the ground,  To show the effect of the offset?  The 7" rim with a 4.5" back space look to push them out just the right amount!

..14 x 7 on the rear 14 x6 on the front. Not sure of the backspace or offset. I believe the rear is about a -5 offset, they are very close to the fender wells, very close, but have not rubbed yet. I do have the coil over shocks on there and I have not hauled anything, but it looks like they will not rub the tires.

The tires are 215/70/14 all the way around.

What do you guys think about this description..?  while the 255s will probably not work for hte rear, what about the actual wheel specs? The price is right, so I am looking for confirmation that they would work.. So whether its what I want to hear or not..Thanks in advance!

    Fronts are Cooper Cobra P215/R65 M + S Radial on 15 x 7 ET 25. (25 offset)
    Rears are Cooper Cobra P255/R60 M + S Radial on 15 x 8 ET 7.5. (7.5 offset)
    Bolt pattern 5 on 4 1/2".

I think the fronts would work no problem, the back looks and sounds iffy, You say 7.5 offset, they look deep on the outside, is it maybe -7.5 offset?. Thats what it looks like, and at an 8" wide wheel, I think you would have to use air shocks, spring blocks or re arched springs to keep the fender wells off the tires. Sorry.

After photoshopping them onto the van. I've decided that are too modern for the look I want.  I was searching for rodlites when I stumbled on to these. They are on eBay in the PNW, 800$ BIN.. In case anyone is interested.
