hi guys ,im new here. i've got a 66 short cargo van ,been driving for a couple years now.
lovin it !    got a shake in the stirring wheel ,cant figure it out ?
It shakes or rocks from side to side, until about 50 mph.
I jacked it up and couldn't find any slack except on the passenger side king pin bushings, which has been that way since I owned it. but it drove fine last year ?
could be tires ,will change out this week and see?
Hope you guys have some ideas to check, i'm just hoping it isn't the steering box?

Rocks side to side? sound like a broken belt in a tire, any tire or more then one tire.

Rock the steering wheel back and forth,,,,look down under the clutch pedal at the pitman arm,,,,,does it move,,,,,if not, problem is steering box,,,,,if pitman arm moves,,,,check the drag link and tie rods,,,,see if anything moves BEFORE the tires move,,,,,,you are checking for slop,,,,,put the back tires up front, see if anything changes,,,,,switch the front tires, side to side,,,,,are the wheel bearings adjusted,,,,,,is the toe in set right,,,,,,go get us some clues so we can dial in your problem......

ok , I checked everything out today .everything looks good except that the kingpin busings on the pass side are shot for sure ,so I'm guessin that may be the problem?

ok guys ,I finally got time to spend on my g-10 this morning. changed the passenger side king pin bushings and when I put the tire back on I finally seen the real problem , broken belts in both front tires ,''real weird man '' just checked them the other day and seen nothing wrong today ,very obvious that the tires are junk?
Anyways at least I finally got to change the king pin out ! fills good now!!
So ,get me some new tires and come on spring time to let the cruisin and campin begin!!!
Thanks to yall for the trouble shootin and info .
