The weather was not nice this morning. So, rather than go buy stuff at the swap meet, ironically, I ended up going through a bunch of stuff I've had sitting in a closet to sell online. No cool van stuff.

Since you rescued the Ford using A-Frames, does that make them A-Holes???
Just kidding around...Don, you're a Handy guy to have around! Donny on the spot, you might say!!!
I take it that Ford is 2WD?

You got her out! What's that red vehicle in the back ground? With the dumpster it looks like it's got a hood? LOL
We got our water growing up from an underground river in Wabash and related wells in the area. They still do. A lot of limestone

Hey Don,
Did you figure out what might be going on with Jacke's van?
Does Robert live somewhat near Scottie and does Scottie have visitation rights?

Re: Dons day,,,,,,,
I have never seen it die,,,,,its always been just sitting in her driveway,,,,,,she says it dies on the road and she pours gas out of a soda can down the carb to keep it running down the road,,,,no way I am going for that test drive,,,,,now where are Rich and Russell when you need them,,,,,,she had a carb shop overhaul the carb,,,,,,,,and then another shop adjust it when it kept dying,,,,,and she has worn out her welcome both places now,,,,,I plan on bringing some test equip to her place and run some clear tubing to monitor the gas flow to the carb as well as pressure test the system and well as see if the system will hold a vacuum to see if it is air tight,,,,,it only seems to happen when she is driving,,,,,,I will bring my spare QuadraJet motorhome carb in case something is going on with her carb,,,,,,so,,,,,to be continued,,,,,
Robert said they made him take off Scotts license plates,,,,,said they belong to him ONLY,,,,,,I think Scotts not allowed to talk to vanners anymore,,,,,he has to start acting like a mature adult now and set a good example for his new kid,,,,,,,,

,,,seeing how they stuffed that big V8 in Jackes van, I wonder if it is close to the gas line or fuel filter causing vapor lock,,,,,,,,,,,

Re: Dons day,,,,,,,
I couldn't figure it out? I think there might be something in the tank that is getting sucked up against the tube while driving, then it settle's back to the bottom while sitting?
I'm pretty sure you had the tank out before when you fixed the sender.
I'm really interested in you finding the problem.
Inquiring minds want to know!

Re: Dons day,,,,,,,
I think she took the tank off again,,,,,her going down the road and it quits on her sounds like an electrical problem,,,,,,,but she says her soda can of gas pouring down the carb keeps it going,,,,,,maybe she will tell us how she pours the gas in just as the red light turns green to get going,,,,,,so lets see if the gas stops flowing through the clear tubing when she is driving,,,,,,then let gas flow down from my tank and see if it keeps running,,,,,,I wonder if it quits after running awhile from vapor lock?????

Re: Dons day,,,,,,,
Vapor lock while running would seem unlikely. The sock on the drop tube clogging up or something like that is my first thought. Have run into that one myself. Aren't Quad bowls supposed to be vented? Curious what ya find.

Re: Dons day,,,,,,,
I did drop the tank again and nothing was floating or blocking anything. I have now had the carb rebuilt professionally & adjusted professionally. I replaced the wires, distributor cap, fuel pump, fuel filters, new coil, new 4c radiator. Have not had the actual metal fuel line replaced?
After the last episode, where I used a Gallon can dumping gas into the carb while driving (after it was professionally rebuilt & adjusted).
I have not tried to start it since all the other items were replaced. I did not have the seats in.
I am really thinking it will be all better... Don will be the good luck charm!

Re: Dons day,,,,,,,
so,,,,,,,,lets just dial this thing in a little bit better,,,,,,I will come over and put the clear line assembly in just to be sure you aint gettin gas to the carb,,,,,,,but it might be raining Saturday,,,,,,,we are heading for the record of most rain EVER,,,,,,,,,,how about that metal fuel filter by the fuel pump,,,seems like it is REAL CLOSE to the exhaust manifold,,,,,and that would get it REAL HOT,,,,,,do you have a picture of it? we can plug my little lawnmower gas tank into the carb, fuel pump or instead of the gas tank if we have a problem of no fuel to the carb,,,,,,you cant rule out sticking float in the carb stopping gas from going into the carb either,,,,they have that little clip on the needle that could jam the needle,,,,,so we shall see if fuel is your problem,,,,,,,,

Re: Dons day,,,,,,,
Sounds good. The van never had an issue prior, but never say never. I just figure rule out the most obvious. Now, I have the seats in the van so I will fill the new radiator and fire up the van... with the idea that maybe it was electrical as we first suspected? Since I replaced the coil, distributor cap, fuel pump, carb etc. just maybe I fixed it. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut occasionally!

Nope, that I have not done. I am hoping it will be okay, since I have done sooo much to it, after the problem... haven't tried it, but this week I will be starting her up!
