Don, you need to start calling in a few favors for all the work you do for everyone else!

Good point, Vanny. If you've got some big job out there, Don, you know a bunch of us will come out on a weekend to help out.

Re: Dons day,,,,,,,
Was 66 the first year with the westcoast mirrors that have the triangle bottom mount? Nearly if not all 65's have the westcoast like in your pic's.
What do you call your window option? (side & rear doors plus 4 windows)

Re: Dons day,,,,,,,
People must of complained about you get small mirrors or you get to look at 3 holes in your doors,,,,,,I think when the SportVans got invented in later 1965, they made the West Coast mirrors that fit the 3 holes in the doors,,,,,,,my window set up is rare,,,,,,,they might of called it an 8 window,,,,,Those Shevy Van 10 windows have a SportVan body,,,,,but the VINs say it is a panel van,,,,,,SportVans have a different VIN #,,,,the battery is under the floor like panels,,,there are no pop outs or side steps,,,,,and it says CHEVY VAN above the door handle,,,,,whereas SportVans say SportVan, (and something irrelevant), below the door handle.....

Re: Dons day,,,,,,,
That 10 window in the brochure looks like it's got the flat windows like yours instead of the recessed windows like a Sport Van.

Re: Dons day,,,,,,,
Well,,,,,that is advertizing the 1965 Chevy Vans,,,so you know its probably from Fall of 1964,,,,,and they would not of had a SportVan body at that time,,,,I would say they put those triangle windows in a van like mine as a sample of what is available and to show the World that GM knows how to put those windows in right, not like some other company that has them in upside down,,,,,,

Looks like a nice fit. Good work there, Don! Did you turn that triangle window around while you were in there???

Looks GREAT don that's one of my next project's ...Drop the motor cross member a inch or so to get the 5 blade clutch fan I have in the middle of the radiator and use my electric one as a (Hamburg Fan) like yours before Summer...

Re: Dons day,,,,,,,
Joe=when thats done you will notice the advantage to the cooling -with a shroud & clutch fan - just be sure the clutch is a good one too!!

Re: Dons day,,,,,,,
This cooling system on this 67 Falcon with a 240, just don't seem right to me,,,,,the owner got the engine and radiator rebuilt,,,but it runs hotter than my Chevy,,,,,the engine shop says they will build and install a shroud for $500,,,,,,so I put one of these universal ones on it,,,,,but its not as simple as it could be,,,,the fan is is probably 15" but,,,,,it comes pretty close to biting your fingers when you grab the radiator cap,,,,its too high,,,,,now why is that,,,,is the radiator sitting in there too low,,,the radiator is kind of flush with the doghouse gasket,,,and what about that core support,,,,is it supposed to be bent back towards the thermostat housing,,,,I bolted the shroud to the core support and and that leaves a opening on top of the fan,,,I surely am thinking of bending that core support closer to the radiator to cover up the fan with the shroud,,,,,

Re: Dons day,,,,,,,
In doing many shrouds - & always notiving how the factory makes them= they are always having a sort of neck - coming out from the shroud opening!! This allows the airflow to be pulled faster thru the raidiator & maximises cooling!! I make mine with a circular piece welded to the shroud opening-accomplishes the same thing & fan is inside this round circular piece by 1 '" Thats woth the cicular welded piece being 3" -2" long. & diameter 1/2 " wider than fan blade dia.

Keep going and you'll have your own Rte. 66, or should it be Rte. 65 for your van?!!
