    Econoline Seats Empty Econoline Seats

Post by 61 Econoline Wed Feb 19, 2014 6:02 am

I'm just looking for some clarification. I was told that a bench seat from a 65 econoline would not fit in a 61. I believe I was told that the brackets are different and that's why the 65 seat won't work. Is this true?

Not exactly. All brackets are the same. On 61 and 62 models, the front seat legs are spaced differently and wont line up with the floor brackets or work in the rear position of the 61 or 62 van and won't fit in any position of a 63 and up. In short, all rear seats legs are the same, only the front is different. There may be a certain serial number where this changed occurred but so far the best I have determined is it was  a change made in 63. I have the rare 61/62 front seat here if you need to know any measurements. It's the one with the folding partial back section on it.
Also the armrest for that front seat is different and bolts to floor brackets just like the seat whereas the later style armrest just attaches to the seat frame.

This van shows the later seat and armrest https://neworleans.craigslist.org/cto/4335833716.html

Thanks for the information. Would you know where I could look to find aftermarkets seats? I can only find seat covers when I search online. My van has the drivers seat so I'm looking for a passenger and bench seat.

Do a search for "suburban" (nothing to do with the Chevy). They are aftermarket seats made by Lear Corp for Ford Transit vans. Not sure about the bench seats though...
