I was wondering what exactly has to be done to use the Fiero or Mazda seats ? After measuring and checking things to death I figured I could place the batwing racer on the drivers side by re-centering, but NWIH on the passenger side. So back to the width and seemingly seats of choice it is. The reason I am asking is ,I will have to tweak my tunnel a bit to allow for the few degrees slant of the seat base and I would like to try only doing it once. Do mounting tabs have to be removed or re located on the engine side? Can the slides be mounted to anything flat? Any pics of the undersides out there?

Re: The 411 on Seats ?
For me the easiest way to go was to bolt a flat piece of steel (3/16) across the mounts,to give me a nice flat platform. Than I bolted the seats to that.
Easy as Pie.
The only thing I might think about in the future is trying to lower the seat a bit.
But then I would have to move the battery box and cut wheel wells so that project is no a priority

In an Econoline, the Fiero seats almost are direct bolt in. Only 2 holes need to be drilled and you use the stock econo mount setup. Fred Carello has details and pics on his website.

Re: The 411 on Seats ?
Joe there's some pic's of the fiero seats in my 65 here. The legs on the inside by the doghouse are just rectangles built out of 3/4" square tubing. The slides on the seats are the stock ones. Hope this helps. If you want any more pic's let me know. I've got Fireo seats in all of my vans.

Re: The 411 on Seats ?
Thanks Mike , I just got those pics in the other thread to load up right. I do have a couple stock type seats, wife says I should just get them re-covered for now. but I still will need to fab up the inside mounts and I have a stock of that small square tubing. The ideas and the pics will get me going in the right direction for sure.
