Re: new seats
See my other post, but these are a great choice, fit nice and reasonably priced!

They are narrow enough at 19" to fit on the passenger side with clearance for the engine cover to open. I'm in the process of mounting mine. Just about any van seat with an armrest will be too wide. Jeep seats are 21" and too wide for the pass. side, these are the only ones I found after much searching that fit, I bought a set. They are very good quality and a nice black cloth with a swirl pattern in the seat backs.

Re: new seats
So far I have the passenger seat installed in my '64. I did that one first because of the clearance issues. Happy to report that this seat from Suburban fit perfectly! The back support adjusting knob clears the side pillar by 1/4" and the cushion clears the door by 1/2" while the all important doghouse side clears by about 5/8" so the hatch can by lifted. There's even room for a seat belt receiver and the side plastic trim that comes with the seats. When both are done, I will try to post some pics!

Re: new seats
I just finished fitting up the drivers side, no problem but the stock seat support is too far inward, I had to make a new support from some angle stock. The seats both fit and look great, very firm deep dish buckets. I found a short set of seat belt receivers to mount directly to the seats, there is a side bolt there for them, this way the receiver moves back and forth with the seat like a modern car, rather than mounting a long receiver to the floor, plus its not in the way of the engine cover operation. For the outside brackets, I used some flat stock bent to shape and mounted on the wheel wells. For the inside, I used angle stock attached to the side of the doghouse with some tube spacers, but I added some floor struts at each end to take the load of the doghouse. The stock supports are 1-inch lower at the rear to pitch the seat back, so make the brackets accordingly....JT

Re: new seats
You are welcome, you will love these seats for the price, quality and ease of mounting and the width is perfect for both sides. Try to find some late model seat belt receiver 'stubbies' to mount directly to the bolt on the side of the seat so they move back and forth with the seat (assuming you are putting seat belts in!). The plastic side covers are cut for them. Here they are in my van...

Re: new seats
Good find! Are the head rests easy to remove? And what's left behind? Just a couple small holes?

Re: new seats
Hey JBass, have you been on any long rides in these seats? Curious to find out how comforatble these are after a couple hours of driving.

Re: new seats
No not yet, some one else asked that...they are very firm but I wouldn't think they would be a detriment to a long ride any more than the rest of a vintage van like noise, bounce, sway, manual clutch and steering, fumes..etc....lol if I do take an hour drive when the weather breaks I will let you know...also, at least 10 or so over at VCVC have bought these seats, post your question there, some one has probably driven a long distance with them by now...

Re: new seats
They are shipped with the headrests out, once installed they don't pop out very easy but click up and down in four or five height notches. There are two typical plastic sockets on the tops of the seats with the rests out like any other modern car seat.VANagain wrote:Good find! Are the head rests easy to remove? And what's left behind? Re: new seats
they look pretty comfy, but I just cant see me personally having high back, new style seats in mine. I guess i'm just lucky that my original seats were redone about a month before I got them. although, they look real tempting with the headrests off.
