January Blues
Have time to work on my van, but so dam cold I don't. Look at it outside (which I hate) Yes I have a heater and yes there are things I can do that won't cost a lot. Just such a hassle getting things going when it this cold. Hoping Feb is better 20 degrees will feel like a heat wave

Re: January Blues
I'll agree takes hours to get the shop warm enough to work but the furnace never stops running and @ $3.75 a gallon try to work a couple hours. I have been turning side work away, can't make any money if it all goes into heat. Hopeing for a waste oil furnace this time next year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: January Blues
those are not cheap, my brother has one at his shop. the bigest problem is what is in the waste oil that some people bring in saying I just changed my oil, But he does have free heat, the last service call cost over $1,000 bucks , so be carefull what you take in,

I am soooooooo sick and tired of the cold. No garage, wind chill 7 below and arthur visiting again for the winter means no work on my van till spring, but she will still start and go when nothing else on the block will even start.

Re: January Blues
dix, I know they are expensive but paying $1500 year to heat the shop adds up pretty quick, my buddy owns a scrap yard that processes 500 plus cars a week(aka free oil, we'll almost have to buy lots of beer!!!!!!)so I figure two-three years the furnace will be paid for

Re: January Blues
I agree it's a great investment, you just have to police what you take in. but it sounds like you have that covered. his shop is always warm now, (FREE HEAT ) that is a good option in the north,I'd say go for it

Re: January Blues
I have a welding shop buddy who has in a barrel, a large cast iron skillet face up, a fire brick in the center, a smaller cast iron skillet face down on top, a drip can of waste oil with long tube dripping on to top of smaller skillet running into larger pan, its redneck but once it gets hot it heats about 1500 ft shop.
