Is there some kind of secret to get this thing off? I just got my van started and had a real loud tapping noise coming from the tranny/clutch area. Tranny looks good but I cant figure out how to get this damn bell housing off to look at everything else. Took the starter off and 8 bolts (all that I can find unless I'm going blind). Is there one tucked up somewhere I am missing? Sorry for the dumb question. Thanks!

Re: Bell housing
I'll try that after work tomorrow. I didn't want to start getting rough with it until I was sure I got everything. Thanks!

Re: Bell housing
The dowel pins usually get stuck. A few whacks on each side should break it loose

Re: Bell housing
After about 20 minutes with the rubber mallet I got it to come lose. Everything looked normal and I couldn't figure out what would be making the noise I was hearing until I saw that the little wire clip on the inside of the release lever that attaches to the bell housing wasn't connected. I guess the noise was that thing banging around while the engine was going. My question is which direction does that clip connect to the bell housing. I took to pictures of both ways it could go on. Im believe the first picture is right but I want to be sure before I put the tranny back on.
Best pictures I could get of it.

Re: Bell housing
You might find a pic in the Econo shop manual or a online view to see how its assembled.

Re: Bell housing
I looked in the shop manual. It just shows a small picture of it on the fork. Not how it goes onto the housing.
I've already ordered the bearing, just waiting on the mail. Are you asking if the spring comes with it? I don't believe so.
